Brake Pads for my car

Alright, did a bunch of searching and it seems that Akebono ceramic pads are the ones to go with.

My E has around 43k miles and the rear pads need changing, not the front, go figure, is this normal??

Anyway, what is the part number specifically for my car? EUR986? Just making sure because it is a 4-matic with sport package.

Also, should I check the fronts or not? My dealer said the rears need changing in around 3k miles but mentioned nothing about the front.

Thanks!!

Upon further reading I came across this thread: https://mbworld.org/forums/e-class-w...pads-only.html

I still am not 100% sure on either Akebono or Porterfield pads and what part numbers to get.

Another round of ICE
I just did this mod to our 2008 E3504MATIC Sport (18" wheels std) about two months ago, and the results are excellent, just as they were on my C Class about a month earlier. I bought the pads from tirerack.com. The Akebono part numbers are one set EUR 986 and one set EUR 1123, as front and rears are different. Tire Rack did not show the rears on the web site, but had them when I called. I am amazed at how little dust there is, the pads are quiet and perform extremely well!

Akebono Ceramics

After a couple of thousand miles of use, brake dust is virtually non-existant and I love it. Braking is very positive and rock solid. I have been an Akebono Ceramics fan for several years.

Got the Akebono ones for a friends car from RockAuto a few months back. They were like 150 bucks shipped for both front and rear.

Do you need to deactivate the SBC to do a brake pad change?

Order a couple of extra brake pad sensors. I subsequently requested the company to send me additional sensors since no sensors came with my rear pads packaging. They obliged. Only one side needs a sensor.
