My old 2001 BMW nav system, also NAVTEQ based, took us to the exact address, so I wonder if this is a COMAND limitation that no NAVTEQ map upgrade will fix.

Interesting though, during the time I had the BMW (2002-2011) there were more than 13 updates to the Philips manufactured nav system Operating System - many which added improved functionally. They were readily available and easy to install. See:

So, is there a reason that MB does not allow HK/Becker to do the same for the COMAND system? Might be hardware/memory limit - then again, might not be.

I guess it needs the odd/even house number info to determine your routing so it takes you to up the block and the house will be on the passenger side of the car.

Lisa took over. Using manual entry. Selecting the Range of street numbers that included 220. Then entering 220. Worked like a charm. The system routed us through the maze of one way streets and put us at the valet parking desk of the Icon Hotel. Wives are good.

I did think of one other way to get real street addresses into the Nav. System: Load an address into the nav. system from your phone address book. I did that with my daughter's address in the mountains of North Carolina. Worked like a charm.

This is what he emailed to me:
Here is the info I got from Germany through our shop foreman:
S33 is similar in regards to navigation to S32. Essentially, the 2012 will NOT have 3D navigation available. This will be available for the GLK with MY2013.
Only selected models received the upgrade for this year (C/CLS/E/M/SLK) with more to follow next year.
Nav + 4 (code 079) only supports 2D navigation display.
He did say he will contact me when an updat is available. I went to the Navtec site and they say that it is not available at this time for my 2012 GLK and that I have the newest version for that car. Kind of sucks! I'm buying the update as soon as it comes in. I live in So CA and when driving in the cities like LA or San Diego--or when in San Francisco, it is worth it's weight in gold. Other than that--the nav system actually works great for me.

Now for the awakening!
My wife picked up her brand new loaded 2012 C250 Sport Sedan and guess what? It has the new navigation system and it's light years ahead of mine! I feel cheated to say the least! Now only that, her's receives and reads out loud, text messages!!!! And, she also has the "cup of coffee" wake up notice on her system. Couple that with awesome 3-D navigation and the very cool instrumental graphics and it is worth the cost to upgrade, whatever that is. I'm really bummed that it's not in my "new car"!! What's even more amazing is that the service writers and sales people at the dealership didn't even know the text messaging was available. I registered with Navtect to be notified when an update came in. Just FYI for anyone that is interested. Thanks!
