I have the fuel sender/fuel pump leak issue and the SBC brake fail. Unfortunately, the SBC failure was just beyond the 10 extended warranty, so I will have to pay for that repair. All of this causes me to sell what otherwise is a great car. Have had it for two years and enjoyed it immensely, but I just will not tolerate repeated fuel leak issues due to a lousy design.

MBUSA response to inquiry: http://www.benzworld.org/forums/w211...l#post11048290
"letters to affected vehicles will begin to go out later in the month" once confirmation of receiving letter is posted by a fellow member you can have dealer check Vehicle Master Inquiry (VMI) to confirm if your VIN is included or if in MBUSA market check here http://www.mbusa.com/mercedes/recall

the reports I see also don't mention that as of right now it does NOT cover amg models.

1) Does this mean that we can take our car to a MB dealership and get all of this work done for free?
2) Will they replace all of those components (fuel tank, including the fuel filling limiter valve, the in-tank fuel filter/sender, and the in-tank fuel pump)? Or will they only replace one or more if they seem to be broken?

Hello, I just bought a 2004 e320 with 83K miles. when I went to test drive it the gas tank was half full. I bought the car and filled it up on the way home. woke up to fuel leaking from behind the drivers rear tire. did some research and found out about the warranty extension. I took my car in this morning and they are replacing the entire fuel tank assembly.

The work will be done only if you have a problem that occurs. From what I've checked out the cars that are 03-08 all say tank on the recall and the 09s say something about the senders. I don't understand why the 47.10 document says that AMGs are not covered at this time because I did verify on one of my clients cars that his E55 does have the warranty extension.Originally Posted by bflaig79

Good question as it shouldn't matter if it's an AMG or not. The components are the same.Originally Posted by Blitz2639

This is great news. I get tired of cleaning up my garage floor if I accidently put in to much fuel. LOL can't wait to be able to actually fill the tank again, this as been a long road.
I wonder if we have to wait for the letter or if we can just call and schedulle an appointment for the repair?

Call MBUSA CAC to see if VIN is included 800-367-6372 then schedule appointment. Print copy of letter above (post 435) to submit to SA so there is no confusion.

Letter says no AMG models but dealership told me MBUSA may cover it. I got it fixed by a MB certified shop for less than half of what dealership wanted.Originally Posted by Blitz2639

I'll send in all paperwork and fight this until I get my money back. I have no issues paying for repairs that are necessary due to wear and tear or bc I break something but not bc of a design flaw while MB banks on these issues big time.

Well I called Monday to MBUSA and verified my diesel was covered and they said it was and to schedule a service appointment. Done took it in and was just called by Schumacher MB in Scottsdale saying it is not covered & would be 800 in parts. I told him of my call to MBUSA and that the extention letter mentions diesels. He asked for a copy so he could fight it out on his end. So I just scanned it to him. We shall see now.

Are they supposed to provide a loaner while car is being worked on UNDER EXTENDED WARRANTY?
Junior Member

Glad I saw this since my wife and I are going to be doing a lot of driving with the car next month.
Already emailed my advisor about it and taking the car in today to have everything looked at. Guess we'll be stuck with a loaner for a few days if something does get caught.
Cheers to the original poster!

Just brought my '03 E500 into the dealer earlier this week.
Had them inspect the fuel tank, etc as mentioned in the MB letter.
They didn't find any issues with my tank (no leaking, evidence of past leaks, stains, etc)
Came back to pick up my car and they charged me $ 95 for labor......
I asked my SA what I was paying for and he said "well the recall only pays for the service if we did find something faulty or in need of replace. Since yours checked out fine I gotta charge you for the labor."
SMH........

The dealer went in and removed the back seats to inspect the tank and they said they didn't find anything wrong

Did you top it off? Chances are fuel fumes would surface if tank was topped off. Which dealer was that in the Bay Area?Originally Posted by bflaig79
