Has Any One Ever Tried or Puchase/running this Navigation???

I've heard they are questionable. I don't have a link to the thread, but I read that they (at least the generation, which looks just like what you posted, they were talking about) lacked customer service and didn't integrate with the MB as well as they claimed. 1/4 of the price of getting all the equipment from MB though, might be worth a shot...

so many of these can be found on alibaba for like.. $300. It "seems" like dozens of manufacturers are producing these, but no one's actually installing them? I mean, where are they selling these to? Mozambique? So confused.
I'd love to be able to ditch the stock OEM nav, but ... to scared to pull trigger.

MBWorld Fanatic!
It looks like a poorly made interface to be honest... just my opinion but it reminds me of the utilities that came with the old Biostar motherboards programmed by Taiwanese sweat-shop laborers. As astute and lucid as that comparison isn't, no. I wouldn't lol.

From the research I've done, these systems work best with the non-premium audio systems mostly found outside of the United States. In general:
- These systems do NOT work with Harman/Kardon audio systems that have amplifiers that are located in the trunk and interfaced via MOST fiber optic bus. The amplifier must be replaced by one that does not use fiber optics.
- These systems are NOT tested to display Teleaid or MBrace information on screen
- Small features such as speed-driven volume adjustment may be difficult to implement as the existing Harman/Kardon system does not have this feature (relying instead on a microphone to detect ambient noise).
- It is difficult to verify the authenticity of the software that these units run, and also questionable in some cases if say, navigation, audio playback, and an incoming Bluetooth call can be correctly processed in the right priority.
That being said, if anyone ever came up with a TRUE plug and play solution to COMAND system - that is using the existing factory plug, which has two power leads, and two fiber optic MOST leads (and an aux in ) - I have a feeling quite a bit of $$ could be made.

Had the same brand unit in my E39 BMW, and it was the biggest piece of sh*t. Bad sound quality, annoying beep that you couldn't turn of, crap touch screen, buttons stuck in, terrible firmware! AVOID like the plague. Maybe ok to put into your honda or toyota, but not for your Benz!
P.S Best feature was the iGO 8 Nav software but you can't update it as it's not a legal version
