Interior wrap: 3M 1080 Brushed Black Metallic. Rolltop too!

Spent last weekend wrapping my interior wood trim. I was never happy with the wood trim against the ash interior. Here's a pic of my wife's car as which is the same color combo:

Not usually a fan of wraps, but that is well done. I agree the color is better than the wood with the ash interior.

Fantastic job. Especially around the buttons and shift plate.

Same here. Which is why I waited so long to do anything about the wood trim. I'm not a fan of carbon fiber and didn't really want to paint the wood and ruin it. But this stuff looks just like brushed metal. It even feels just like it.

It was a lot of work, but I'm really happy with the result. My wife wants to do her car next.

Looks gorgeous! Did you take all the trim off to wrap or did you do it while on the car?

I really want to do this one day.

I have to admit I normally like the wood look but you did an excellent job on it.

Thanks. I had to take all of the trim off which unfortunately includes the door panels and the rolltop console.

Thats a Harman Kardon Drive & Play II, an ipod controller which is no longer made unfortunately.

Here is the install thread I made on it with more details. You can see the old interior in the pics here also.

I did the 3M Brushed Black Metallic on my 2003 E500 with Ash Grey interior as well - the burlwood looks dated to me.
Also installed a Chinese black leather steering wheel cover and a black airbag purchased from eBay to complete the two-tone look.

Thumbs up Where did you get the wrap materials?

I have the same car and the same complaint. The wood does not match the Ash interior. Let me know where you got the materials for the wrap. You did a great job and it looks fantastic.
Thanks.

The brushed metallic can be found on Amazon. Search "3m 1080 brushed black metallic". I am planning on starting this project myself in the coming weeks. The burlwood fades easily, unfortunately, and the sun-stained colour isn't quite so amazing as the original. Not to mention that the rear left door trim has no fading compared to the rest of the car so it sticks out. Odd.
