w211 mood lighting bulb change
Hi everyone. I looked through many posts, but i don't seem to find any information about changing bulbs in the round mood lighting you can see on a picture attached. Mine is very dim and bad looking so i want to change the bulbs. I tried taking it off with a screw driver but i'm afraid to break it as it doesn't want to come off. Anyone got any info on how to change those bulbs?
Thanks

yup you have to take it down of the the roof to get to the bulbs on the backside..
to do the front you have to take off the rear view mirror, and then there are tabs between the headliner and the console you can depress with a flat and pull it down

there's a plastic piece between the rear view mirror and the dome light assembly. just pop that off, and then take off the plastic cover on the windshield. turn the mirror so that the mirror is facing the door, and just push it towards the door and it will pop off.
when you put it back in, use a strong flathead and compress the spring to seat it back into its original position. going to need a flathead to compress the spring because that spring is retardedly stiff.

Right, I managed to take it all apart, but the bulbs are like nothing i've seen before, very small LED and are not removable, same LED as under the buttons. I can't remove them unfortunately, so i guess it will have to stay like this, dim.

Wow well thanks for heads up so I don't waste my time trying to fit leds in there haha. Sorry to hear about you dim issue too. My guess is to try and fund a used complete dome assembly.

Yes you can replace the 2 big lights in the middle with normal led's but i was actually talking about the round yellow light on the outside of the unit, the one that is on when you are driving at night with headlights on. they seem to be very tiny and wired in.

I just noticed having owned my car since March of 2012 that the interior door handle area is actually lit by a hidden light under the trim. I have no idea how I would replace that if that ever goes out, but it's an incredibly nice touch.
