Spark plugs replacement for better MPG.
a) how many miles the old plugs had on them?
b) did you replace the wires at the same time?
Either way, it looks like replacing them has helped, which is great for you.
Hello everyone,
The car has about 63k miles on it.
By replacing the spark plugs the idle has also smoothed out during cold starts. It use to have a lite spotter sound during cold starts making me think it was the EGR????
This model does not have plug wires as it has coils. The good news is this model (08 E350) engine has only 6 spark plugs vs older versions where they had 2 spark plugs per cylinder.
If you go to NGK USA site, there you can pull up your car make and model and it tells you which spark plugs are available.
The NGK spark plugs I used on my car are 4288 Laser Platinum.
I don't recommend you take pics while driving and I did it just when I found an empty/stretch on the highway and 4 empty lanes to my self.
I have gone thru 1 gas tank already since the Spark plugs been changed to NGK.
For Gasoline I use Premium Shell/Exxon and sometimes BP.
All major brand's Unleaded gasoline here in Nashville have 10% Ethanol in them.
I have tried 0% Ethanol but the gain was not that much.
