2003 E500
SBC hydraulic
I have a 2003 E500. It experienced the dreaded SBC hydraulic pump failure. It was replaced 6,000 mi ago and has again gone out.
The Mercedes dealership is telling me that since the 10 year warranty has expired it is not covered even though it was replaced only 6 months ago.
It is my understanding that replacement parts are warranted for 1 year from replacement?
Anybody please help?

I second that. I remember reading the MB policy at my dealer and warranty is 12 months for all work they do. 6 months failure is ridiculous I wouldn't be surprised if they used a re-manufactured or used part as a cost saving measure, because that seems like an oddly short period of time for it to fail again. I hope it didn't happen when you were driving!
If your service manager isn't helpful, contact MB USA and they should refresh your dealership on corporate policy.

Thanks for replies. Spoke with Manager of Greenway Plaza Mercedes. He stated that is Mercedes policy. Once the 10 year extended warranty is out there is no coverage. If i had paid for the part there would be a 1 year warranty.

I spoke with Mercedes and she gave me the same line of crap and told me to refer to my vehicle warranty that came with the car.
I have purchased E500, SL500 and SL600 from this dealership. I will never be back.

Spoke again to MB USA. Service rep said again that since I didn't pay for the part it is not covered under 12 month warranty. Ask to speak to service representaive manager. Told he was not available.

But this SHOULD NOT HAPPEN. I finally got rid of the Mercedes for a new Chrysler 300C 5.7 Hemi and feel much safer driving the car with conventional vacuum boost breaks. At least if the booster fails I can still stop. I have never had a booster fail instantly they cracked and began to fail by having higher pedal pressure. The MB failure gives the Red light Brake Failure Stop Car.. Almost a joke,, the brakes failing and stating to stop. How are you suppose to do that going on an exit ramp at hightway speeds down hill.
I doubt a law suit will do anything but make the legal system
$$. These are the reasons I didn't buy another new mercedes. It did cost them a customer.
