Best Fuel Treatment
I noticed a line item on some dealer maint records for my E350 that says:
"ADD MOTOR OIL AND FUEL ADDITIVES FOR EFFICIENCY" and
under the parts sections:
EDIT: "MB CONCENTRAT" P/N 002-986-14-71-09 $7.35 <--- That's Windshield washer fluid! Can't find anything listed that is the "SECRET ADDITIVE" ;-) Sorry
So I'm guessing that's a dealer sham.

My brother is a long haul truck driver and swears by Lucas oil.
He had a Chev S10 with over 300,000 KL. on it which still ran great. His mechanic asked him what he uses in his engine and told him to keep using it.
He got me convinced about five years ago, and I use it faithfully every time I fill up.
I pour about two ounces in gas tank every fill-up..
Hope this helps.
Cheers

Ethanol was the original anti-knock compound but it could not be patented, so a highly toxic substance was used with a patent. I would like less ethanol to kept my older cars running well.
My cars have had a reduced mpg for the last few years. Getting old or just less energy with the newer gas in So. Cal?
Just use Techron, this is what most benz and bimmer owners are using,, can't go wrong with it. I put a bottle in at every oil change.

I am American, but live on the Canadian West Coast. However, we do have Chevron stations here.
Most of the stations are Petro Canada, Esso (AKA Exxon).
Been filling up at Petro Canada, but will switch to Chevron , so I can start using Techron. Looking forward to trying out new product.
Cheers

Definitely switching to TECHRON.

There was another product years ago, that really cleaned out the valves and essentially everthing along the combustion line, but release tons of smoke and needed to change oil after using it. Worked wonders on car, but they removed it from the market in CA and then other states. Anybody remember the name of the product? Not SeaFoam. May of been a GM product.

He says it works really good. Don't remember the name though , but he says it is avail at GM parts.
Still going to try out Techron first though.
I should mention that I'm a "defensively aggressive" driver :-) TG for my Escort 9500ix and the fact that the boys in blue drive around with their radar running.... and damn that one that got the new laser toy!

Reel nice looking wheels!!!!
Come on Frenchie!!!! Drink the KOOL AID!
BTW... my car doesn't scream (or even whisper?) "Give me a ticket, I can afford it." Does it? I need to come up with some patter in case I get pulled over. ;-)

I use the Power Service Diesel Supplement (white bottle) in the winter to prevent gelling, and the Lucas injector cleaner in the summer. I've used the lucas in other gas cars too.

I bought some more Lucas Injector cleaner instead. Will look for Techron in June . Going to fly to New Hampsire to visit family.
Cheers

I think anyone can get there ;-)

Is the new GM top engine cleaner that same as the old pre-2002 formulation? Any poor man's alternative?

I come from a Supermajor Oilco & have been testing in-fuel additives for over 30 years.
I don't like the GM top of engine & injector cleaner as it requires injection into the rail pre injectors. It is over concentrated and can do damage if added to fuel tank.
Techron will do everything the AC Delco product does & more ~ safely at recommended dose rate.
Techron can also be aggressive to yellow metals etc in the fuel system if Dosage recommendations are exceeded. At recommended dosage it is totally safe.
It has also passed all of Benz' exhaustive testing & the product that is sold as an MB Part number.
Techron is the finest clean up & keep clean additive system on the market.
As I have said before BP's system get's closest to Techron performance

In the US, the ERG is putting lots of crude in to the air intake. Anything to clean the valves for direct injected engines?
Anything for a diesel with DPF?

EGR & captive crankcase breathers make a mess. DI engines need proper design or an LP injector in the inlet like VAG Group does.
You need to be very careful not to mess with diesels with DPF. Adblue urea compounds are designed to work in conjunction with DPF/regeneration. If you screw up the unit you are in for a large bill. Techron Diesel is safe with DPF.
