Nice! I wonder if my E500, which is on the boat now, picking it up at the end of the month, has this new clearcoat?

Why does that matter? That panel or portion of the car doesn't the factory paint. It wont look any different, it will just be easier to scratch. This is just the protective clearcoat, not the paint.

The paint is probably no cost since it is only clearcoat.

To precise the article:
The nano clear coat is used in the Sindelfingen plant first, starting January 2004. The first modells are the E, S , CL, SL and SLK. During Q1 Mercedes introduces the nano clear coat in the other production plants (Bremen C, CLK ; Sindelfingen C and Raststatt A).

Currently Mercedes uses a ceramic clear coat in the Sindelfingen production plant, but not for all cars. This clear coat can be detected by the letter 'C' in front of the color code.

Nano and ceramic clear coat can not be mixed with traditional clear coat. Therefore these clear coat are marked in the color code.

I have ordered the E320CDI Avantgarde Estate with a Q1 January 2004 build date.

This is the first I have heard of this new clear lacquer. I will be straight onto the dealer Monday morning to confirm this good news.

At present I own a 2000 320CDI Estate and the paintwork is certainly NOT its strongest point.

Thanks for the link,

If dealers in the UK are anything like those in the US they will have no idea what you are talking about.. and will give you the look.

And if you present this info to your salesperson , his/her manager will use this as an opportunity to sell you a $2000 " diamondcoat permanent no wax paint protector " on cars in current inventory that will be " better than that new clearcoat "

Have you seen my order form???

I have already ordered the Protection Pack. Over here it is a £1000 option and Mercedes-Benz also replace the car on a 'New for Old' basis for the first three years, if the vehicle is 'wrote off'

Has America got the Mobilio 30 year Warranty for the Mercedes-Benz???

I am still determined to contact the dealer tomorrow and I WILL get a yes, or no answer. (Perhaps both together)
