Rubber gasket at the bottom of the windshield

I recently had the windshield replaced on my 2006 E320 CDI. The rubber strip at the bottom of the windshield got sort of buggered up with cracks, small chunks missing, etc. So I'd like to replace it. Is there a DIY process for replacing that rubber piece? Anyone have the needed part number?

I check my EPC and it is easy to confuse the part.
Since this is likely dealer-only part, I would go to a dealer with VIN to match it.
Or take the old part out and read the number from it.

I looked at EPC as well and couldn't positively identify the part.
The DIY heater control valve sticky shows the removal of a "plastic trim panel" that seems to have that rubber gasket. But it doesn't indicate if the gasket is part of the trim panel or a separate piece that can be replaced by itself.

It was listed under "heating and ventilation" - "water baffle with intake shell". "Seal at cross member" part number 2118311198. Not very intuitive. The best news is it's only $10.50 from the dealer.

I have to wait a few days for it to arrive. Then I may do the install myself.

Well, that $10.50 seal is just a foam gasket that goes between the plastic cowl cover and the metal cross member under the windshield. Not the right part.
I took the plastic trim piece (cowl) off the car, and that rubber strip is integrated into it. So I have to buy the whole piece in order to replace the rubber strip. It's $117. Ugh.
For reference, the part number is A2118301213 for the E320 CDI. Other models may use a different part number, so it's probably best to check yours before ordering. As usual, the part number is stamped on the back of the part.
It comes with the 8 mounting tabs and the 3 rubber grommets for the windshield wipers. So if you break a few while taking your old one off; no big deal.

do you have any pictures of the part? Was it hard to replace?

I'd like to replace this part on my 11/04 E55 as the rubber strip that goes along the bottom of the windshield is starting to crack.

My existing part is marked as A211 830 01 13.
When I search for this part at the usual online parts retailers, it comes up empty.

Ray R posted above that A211 830 12 13 fitted his E320 CDI.

Are all W211's the same in this area?
Has my part number been superseded perhaps?

Oh... I know the difference..

Mine is RHD.. There are a few components near the firewall that make this part different.

you know, I was wondering the same thing since I have the same problem, unusual for MB to have "rubber rot" unlike other makes I have owned never had issue. I wanted to replace that rubber piece, but I might well get the whole thing if it's what it takes.

2118301213 is current, replaces 2118300013.
