Panoramic Moonroof questions

A couple of times my moonroof has lost sync and gone into fail safe mode. If I reset it, everything is good. This has happened about four times now since I have bought the car. My question is:
Has anyone else on this board had this problem, and or know what causes the the roof to get out of sync? The good news is the roof always closes, albeit slowly and with the safeguard stutters. Just curious.

Thanks,
Randy

I've never had any problems with my pano roof. Does your problem just happen out of the blue or have you noticed a pattern to the failures?

No pattern just seems to happen out of the blue.

No issues with mine other than it seems to have a low "groan" sound in the final close movement. Any way you could be opening or closing and while doing so- inadvertly holding the switch in either position for too long past finish ? I think that the roof can be confused if the switch is held.... Just a thought....

Mine has been flawless, but the motor seems kinda loud. Is that normal?

Brought my car in for service with a heater issue, and mentioned the sync problems I have been experiencing occaisionally with the roof. Turned out to be a low voltage issue in the overhead console. This was causing the computer that controls the roof to have the sync memory loss as well as the sensors for the A/C to be out of whack and not allow the heater to come on at all. replaced the overhead console and all is good. Just FYI for all with the roof is you ever have similar issues.

Regards,
Randy

Mine works flawlessly, but the motor does groan at the end of closing just like some others here have described.

No problems, except I have a creeking sound when I drive over speed bumps, only when the roof is closed.. must be a rubber seal making noise. Otherwise functions without a hitch.

Brav, my roof does the same and I found that getting the dealer to lubricate the roof channels etc cures it for a while.

In UK you realsie just how much the roof flexes when it freezes, and so it follows that a bit of lubrication will sort it.

dont know how much different the pano roofs are on the E and C but mine has never given any problems as far as fail safe. they needed to lube the rails 2x though because the roof will stick, especially after washing the car and if i dont open the roof and let the water dry while the roof is closed. do you experience that same issue with the W211 pano roof.
