Quote: When the relay is open the current is near zero----When the relay is closed the voltage is near zero------what's the real question you are trying to ask and or what HS have you been reading at Ben's Wurld??
The relay must be rated for a certain current, for if the appliance draws more current than the relay can safely handle it will burn out. For instance, one cannot run a starter motor through an indicator relay. So what I want to know is what current the heated washer bottle will draw which will determine the current rating of the relay

If you can find the proper relay in whichever fuse box it is in, I imagine it would have the current rating printed on it.
Worst case, find the fuse that feeds the relay and whatever it is rated for is the minimum the relay can handle.

Quote: That information is not called out in any of the documentation, however why don't you simply measure the current at the relay.

I think that most folks in the know depend on the manufacture to size electronic components according to circuit design

Once again what is the real question and or why do you need a switching current!!
Ok, since you don't like the way I construct the question I have rephrased it. It is a very simple question; does anyone happen to know what current the heated windscreen washer bottle draws?

Thanks

Hi, yes but unfortunately relay and fuse are missing, hence this query.

Does the car have the equipment but is somehow missing parts? Are you trying to upgrade what you have? You're being stingy with information here. Maybe start by telling us exactly what car you have so we're not playing a guessing game.

Look at the paper folded up in the driver's side fuse box and see what the fuse that is missing is rated for.
