I contact the Seller and he thinks its an firmware issue... I hope to fix it.. I like the original Look and the Command System had the best Radio Tuner. 3rd Party Radios have bad Sound and not the „original“ Look.The Red Wire is + and the Black is Ground, right?I will give an Update.

I have now made further measurements with a voltmeter. I used a 12V power supply to try out the LaPower. When I put the plug into the Lapower, the red LED lit up briefly (0.5sec?). The LED went off again immediately. Only when the plug was removed, the LED went on again briefly. When I press "RESET", the LED lights up briefly. It goes out again directly.
I have measured the power consumption of the LaPower, it seems to be too low. In the first second almost 9 milliamperes are used. I think this is too little. In the second second about 3 milliamperes are used.
The question I have is: firmware or hardware. How do I update the firmware on the Laboer and where do I get the firmware from?

What has been done is to update the firmware for your comand. So I think the seller is talking about you updating the firmware for the comand (head unit). For that you need the update CD for your specific comand. The firmware update comes on the same CD with the maps update. There are bootlegs sold on Fleabay and there are sites you can download for free (beware!) some forum members may be able to help to get you the files. Lastly is your local Stealer and the MB website. If you search the net and you tube there are instructions on how to do it.
But again....save your self some headaches and have the seller replace the unit...

Well it sounds like the LaPower device is not working properly. That's why the head unit is flaking out with the device attached. If it were me; I'd ask the seller for another one and send back the the one you currently have. If that is not an option, you could open up the device and look at the circut board for crappy solder joints. You sound like you may be able to trouble shoot the power problem.

thank you for your Ideas. I stay in contact with the seller. I made an Update of my Command (2015)... This should not be an Problem. I don’t want to open the devices I hope he send me a new one. I will give you an update

I have good news... The LaPower is now working... It was an firmware issue. I could provide the Files to Update the firmware for the Mercedes Version..
One Problem is not fixed.. I can’t use the Telephone Function of my Command. I unplugged the VISEEO and then the Command won’t recognize the LaPower as an Mobile Phone.. Any ideas?
But I have to add that I did not remove the Telephone control unit under the trunk.. I bought the MOST-Bypass but I didn’t use it today,
I try more than 99 Tracks on a flash drive and it works fine. The Command Displays only the first 32 Tracks then the Display shows „Page 01->02“ and then you see your other Tracks. I will test it in the next days with 200 Tracks.

before I Installed the LAPOWER I use an VISEEO... For Handsfree Calling... In my Car everything is activated. CD-Changer, Handsfree Calling, and Steering Controls.
Now I removed the VISEOO but the Command won’t recognize the LAPOWER as Telephone.. But I didn’t remove the Telephone Control Unit. With the VISEOO the Command sucks at the Phone Screen. Without the VISEOO the Command said : „No Phone is installed“...
you could update the firmware of the LAPOWER easily... If you have Problems with your LaPOWER follow my Guide... I won’t guarantee that my guide is correct. If your device is broken after the Update it is NOT MY FAULT!
IMPORTANT: MICRO-SD MUST be formatted as FAT32 and BLANK!
1) save to SD card (file name cannot be changed) -> LP1603MB_Benz_App_v2.1.bin
2) Remove the power cord and the FIBER-Connector from the Lapower module
3) Insert the SD card into the slot below the optical input.
4) Now connect the power cord. The update will start automatically. (During the update, the red and blue light will flash together many times).
5) If the update is successful, the blue LED will be displayed permanently (if the update is not successful, the red LED will be displayed permanently).
Repeat the process again if the first time is not successful.
6) After updating, remove the POWER-CORD and THEN the SD card.

If the phone is not available (with the viseeo removed) I question if the update was completely successful? Make sure dip switch #4 is in the off position completely.
Now we know there is a firmware update for Mr. 12volt / La Power (LP1603). But the question that remains for me is; why and when should you update the firmware. That is, what are the signs and symptoms (besides what your head unit was doing) that points to the need to upgrade the firmware?

IMPORTANT FOR W203 :
I figure out why the phone won’t work. Under the Trunk is the Control Unit for the Phone-Antennas (VISEEO used them).. I have to remove the Power Cord of it and bypass it with an Most-Loop. Now everything works fine.
I could also test a USB-Drive with more than one Folder. The Maximum Folder number is 5.. In every Folder you could copy more than 300 Songs! I test it with around 350 Songs and its stable without Bugs.
The Songs are Grouped into 32 Songs. If I reached the 32 Songs the Command said :“Page 01->02“ then comes the new 32 Songs and after that songs “Page 02->03“ is displayed..
My Problem was that the Command won’t recognize the Module.. This was fixed by the Update and the constant 12V ...
I wrote to the Seller and ask him that i am interested to see the Firmware and I also ask him to provide me an Update to use the Steering Wheels buttons or a defined button at the Command for enabling Siri or Google.
Hope its Helpful for other People..

Now you got it working... I have a question for you: does the Comand display the correct songs name?? I installed this unit many years ago. I have almost 3000 songs on the sd card. Everything worked perfect, except it displayed the wrong names!! The song's names were displayed randomly, which didnt match the songs that were playing. I tried a USB with only 10 songs, and it displayed properly!!!

I arranged the songs in 6 folders, but you can put in 1 folder, it make no different. Can you please check for me. On the Comand, there are option to play songs in order, or random order, or mix folder ...etc.. Can you check, even with 80 songs folder, if you choos mix track (or random order), will it still display the name properly?? BTW, the device mimic 6 CD changers, so you can have up to maximum 6 folders. If you have more than 6 folders, it will only see 6 filders.

Another thing.. Did you figure out how to switch sources on the device?? for example: switching from USB storage to SD card storage, or phone bluetooth?? I never figured out this!! just randomly pressed Audio, Mute will switch sometimes, but very inconsistence.....

So I made a Test ... Five folders with a different number of Tracks. The first Folder has around 350 Tracks. The Command has no problems to handle this big Folders. The Songsames are Correct. But if I skipped a Track the command needs up to 2 seconds to display the right
track-Name. The Command shows first the Wrong name but after 2 sec the correct name is in the display. I checked the Names with Shazam.
The other Folders has around 50 Tracks and the Command don’t need that Time to display the right name. Try the Firmware-Update it could fix your issue.
TITLE-MIX, CD-MIX ... Worked fine and I didnt have any issues. But the Problem is that the Command will only see the first 32 Tracks per Folder. You could storage more than that but only play them manually.
To Change between Sources is quite Simple.. You have to be in the CDC-Mode. The 6th-CD is the Source-Changer .. If you press the „6“ of your Buttons at the Command you will change the Input of the LaPower. If no SD-Card or AUX-Cable is plugged into the Module the Lapower will activate the Bluetooth-Audio..
The Command thinks the 6th CD is „real“ and triggers the LaPower to change the input. But it is only a Placeholder due a limitation of the command. Overall the LAPOWER is great and the Sound is fantastic you can’t believe how good the HARMAN BECKER-Sound-System is.

I just followed your instruction to update the firmware, and nothing happened!! To clarify, I got the power for the device from the power plug in for the CD changer. If I only plugged in the power line (and not the fiber optic), the device would not turn on (and the Comand stuck at start up). If I also plugged in the fiber optic, then the Comand can be turned on, and the device was activated... but not updated!!. I also tried to press the reset button.... upon reset, it would not update either!! have anybody beside Mr Derpicknicker tried and success??
