Where to buy tires and get them installed
Just curious where everyone purchases tires from. I usually go to a local retailer with my other vehicles. This will be my first time replacing the tires on my w211. I'm a little but worried about having a tire shop jack up my car and not use the jack points, and damaging the underside of the car. I had looked at another used w211 before I bought this one and the underside looked like hell. It was all chewed up. I'm trying to keep mine looking like new. I was going to call the dealer to get a price on tires, but I'm figuring they will be much higher than a tire shop. Thanks.

I have bought from the dealer when the tires were on sale, and that was a good experience. Generally, though, I get prices from an online place like Tirerack and then ask a local retailer to match the price-they almost always do.

Costco is having good deal on Michelins if that is what you plan to buy.
Most of tire technicians are yesterday's burger flippers so never hurts to recheck the torque at home. Most of the time they overtorque, so I have to loosen the bolts and retorque them again.

I usually get tires from Tire Rack and have a local place put them on.
The dealer is the last place I'd think of going to get tires.

Tire rack did not offer warranty, although lately I hear you can buy it for $$.
Costco in the package gives you full roadhazard insurance, lifetime rotation and lifetime gas fill.

2005 W211 E320 CDI
I bought my Bridgestone Blizzak tires from my local scrap yard Cookstown Auto Centre for $160 for the full set with roughly 90% tread. I had to look through piles of tires though.
Installation and balancing was done for $30 at a shop I highly recommend called Advance Tire. They know their stuff, never damaged anything, and have helped me in the past with the correct bolt size for my summer rims.
If you live in the Toronto area this is the place to go. They have large lineups though so get there early.

I've used Discount Tires in Indiana and Arizona with good results. Generally have good prices and get the job done quickly and correctly. Seem to be able to get tires delivered in a reasonable amount of time. Just make sure that you check the tire pressure before going too far. I've had excess air before.

I've gone through a lot of tires for my 2003 E500 with 186000 miles. The last two sets are Bridgestone. I normally buy my tires for all my vehicles from Tire Rack and they are shipped to my local Goodyear or Firestone stores for installation. The Road Hazard policy through Tire Rack is pretty good too, currently offered "free" for two years for a set of Continental tires I bought for my 2015 BMW. The last set of Bridgestones for my E500 were bought through Costco Tire Shop which offered a comparable price to Tire Rack but it's a pain having to drive to a Costco for the tire rotation and rebalance every 5k miles instead of just using either Goodyear or Firestone stores just down the street from where I live (can walk there).
