2007 E320 Bluetec and 2008 C350
Service A

Hello all. 2007 E320 Blutec got the service a alert on my car. Is that a dealer “must do”? What is included in the service a? Is there more included. For a diesel? This is my first experience with a diesel and any feedback is appreciated!

Nothing needs to be done at stealer, although some resets require SD and on newer cars coding that comes with subscription.
The scope of the service is listed in manual, so you can do it.
Beside oil change, it is some checking. Did you have oil cooler seals replaced on your engine?
When you are done with the service, you can reset the FSS by :

1 turn key to #2 position

2 go to mph display in the cluster

3 turn key to off position

4 turn key in # 1 position

5 press trip odometer knob three times (QUICK) voltage will appear on display

6 select Down Arrow (shows service menu)

7 select confirmation using -

8 Press the right menu systems button

9 full service will be highlighted

10 Press and hold right menu system button until service confirmed message appears

Thanks Kajtek for your response and tip! If it is merely a oil change, can I just take to a oil change shop? Are they capable of handling this job?

Not sure about the oil cooler seals. Any way for a newbie like me to figure it out?

This will show you how to access the service items. The last pages define those service items. Example: Service 12: Engine compartment, Engine oil and filter change.

I was always tempted by those $39 Quick Lube oil changes, but then I always read too many stories how those grease monkeys butchered the job on MB.
On older models they would strip aluminium nuts, on newer ones they will over-torque plastic cap, once I read about guy who cut hole in belly panel as he could not figure out how to remove it.
Than you have couple of topics about Bluetec seized and the only conclusion was that dealer did something wrong with oil changes, what created solid sludge in oil pan.
Do yourself a favor, buy electric oil pump, or MityVac extractor when you like exercise and DIY.
In MB you have everything on top and the job can be done in 15-20 minutes. I can manage to make it "white glove" job as the only part where you risk getting your fingers dirty is orings replacement.
Still with couple of grocery bags for holding and oring pick it is job I would not hesitate do do in church clothes.

Will a oil change shop have and use the correct oil? Remember you are driving a diesel and not a gaser. I believe the oil for your vehicle needs to meet 229.51 or 229.53 mercedes spec.

Stay away from the quick-lube shops. The ones who advertise 10 minute oil changes are the worst, because they're going to be rushing to get the job done and doing things like using air tools to remove and install the drain plug. Heard way too many stories about stripped drain plugs from those shops. Then you have the issue of the correct oil and filter being available. I doubt they're going to stock the good quality fleece filters, they'll probably just throw a paper-element filter in there. The 10,000 mile service interval is only applicable if a fleece filter is used, a paper element filter will require more frequent replacement, so you're not saving in the end with a cheap filter.

The low price you see advertised is usually only applicable to gasoline engines taking up to 4 or 4.5 quarts of 5w20 or 10w30 oil and one of their "economy" filters. They very likely don't have bulk diesel oil on hand, so they'll be using bottled oil (not necessarily a bad thing, since you know what it is...No telling what's in the bulk tanks), and you'll be paying a premium for it. An oil change at a quick-lube using bottled oil may actually be more expensive than getting it done at a real shop...
