Post Wow factor - new COAMND software (European Only) (Lots of Pics)

I got my upgrade last Wednesday, and thought it was the MP3 only. But today I started playing with it, and found several additions:

Now you can retrain the Linguatronic (Very good for us non-English)

You can select many European languages (see pics)

If you select another Language, you will now be guided in the selected language (No Norwegian, but Danish and Swedish. That's good enough for me)

Now you can select a telephone number on your Ipaq and send it via Bluetooth to the COMAND, which then dial the number.

The Navi display now shows dottet road lines to indicate tunnels (we have plenty of them)

Calculating destinations is much quicker

The WAP in action

Searching for Bluetooth devices

Retraining Linguatronic

Language Select

Swedish Language

I heard if you have TV installed, you get Video Text after the
update.

Also heard that you have to press 1,3,8 all at once and the comand will ask you to slot in the Update CD... just some information

I will try to get a copy of the CD from my dealer.

Hi

UK MB Tech guy phoned me today

He told me comand update out and may fix my prob with MP3. It is on back order for UK. I said I know and it has been issued in Norway. He was amazed at what I was aware of. Thanks to this forum. He has asked my dealer service mgr to order it and let me know as soon as in.

He said that they have to put it in comand and run it for around 20 mins with car locked up to ensure nothing interferes with update, I assume this is a firmware update.

Well Oslo, you will have to give me some advice on how to use bluetooth with it. If you don't mind. I wonder if my 6310i will work with the bluetooth in comand. This really opens up possibilities. I assume this will now allow us to use new phones on the system when the 6310i becomes obsolete.

It takes exactly 7 minutes. Just leave the engine running to ensure you have stable voltage.

Apollo, I will check to see if you can connect a cellular. It didn’t work before the update, and you know, the cellular transmitter/receiver is inside the COMAND. I only have a Bluetooth handset in the centre console. Do you have Bluetooth in your COMAND?

I believe the cellular transmitter/receiver is actually part of the CP in the trunk area... but I am not certain and would like to find out.

Do you know for sure?

Whatever connects to the cellular aerial is probably a likely candidate.

I meant it was a part of the COMAND system, not exactly “inside”. Sorry for the confusion.

Hi Oslo

I am not sure, how do you check, was it an option for you. I notice that now in the UK there is the WAP phone prewire option. Not available here when I ordered. Is this what gives you bluetooth on comand.

I must admit my concern with the phone pre-wire was that if I keep this car any length of time then my phone is bound to change. How easy will it be to change the system to accept a new phone.

With my C Class 6 months after I got it my phone changed from a 6210 to a 6310i as a works issue and the dealer wanted £500 ($900) to upgrade.

That is correct. The Bluetooth option is only available with the WAP option.

Check if you can get the UHI (Universal Handy Interface) with the wiring that you have. This is a cradle that now is available for different brands of phones, like Nokia, SonyEricsson and Siemens. So when you get a new phone, just buy a new cradle....

Hi Oslo your msg box is full.

Thanx for the offer really good of you. I will check with dealer, willing to wait a little time now that I know there is probably a fix for me.

Damn, looks like I missed out on that one.

I must say that this comand is really becoming a great piece of kit.
