In need of service station recommendation (Fairfax, VA)

New to this forum and to the Merc World. We own a 2007 E-350 4-matic. We are pretty sure we have an oil leak (down a quart in a little over a month—no oil slick, smoke, or smell) and possibly something wrong with the front end (there is a light-sounding squashy rubber sound coming from the tires when going under 30mph—bumpy and smooth roads). Does anyone have a go-to mechanic in the Fairfax/Springfield, VA area who is NOT a dealer, is reasonably priced, and honest? Just had the Service A done at a dealer which felt like a rip-off. Thanks!

Which dealer? MB of Arlington? Remember Nothern VA is expensive. The further you come down south (Springfield, Woodbridge, and Fredericksburg) of 95 the less it will cost. Try some Indy shops in Springfield,
or Woodbridge. GL

MB of Alexandria. We are happy to go further south a bit. I have a mechanic in Richmond (Vinny who owns Dr. Auto is awesome with foreign cars), but that is 1.5 hours South and it'd be nice to have a local guy. We spent $240 for the Service A, which I hear is a deal at a dealer. They said that the engine air filter needs to be replaced—$167! My husband has changed air filters on our Hondas in the past—am I missing something where the Benz requires someone to do it? And for that much? Thanks!

Wow, $240.00 is about 100.00 more then I pay at my Indy for the same "A" service. Did they give you shop discounts? That makes a difference in the long run.

That was after the discount. Do you have a recommendation for around the Fburg/Springfield/Woodbridge area? We may YouTube a few things, but in your experience, is the "engine filter" user-friendly to DIY?

they did good with me until I moved away from the area. Plus they are close to a Metro stop with a short bus ride.

According to the w211 which has a total of three "filters" oil, air, and cabin....And they are definitely diy. The parts are reasonable, it's the shop fee which is not regulated and they can charge what ever they choose that's the kidney punch!
