2003 E320 - HELP, defective Fuel Pump again?

Approx. 4 weeks ago, my car would suddenly not start in the morning in the driveway, after driving home the previous night with no issues. Parked the car and the next morning it would try to fire, but after a few cranks would shut off and not start. At the time I thought it was the crank shaft positioning sensor, but the car was diagnosed with a faulty fuel pump.
Towed the car to the local MB Dealer who performed the Fuel Leak Warranty, which was extended to 15 years, replaced tank, lines, fuel pump, etc.

This morning, 4 weeks later, EXACT same situation. Parked the car after coming home last night, tried to start it this morning and would not fire. I have Power, no messages, nothing weird on the dash. When turning the key, it tries to fire, sputters for approx. 3, 4 seconds and then shuts off. This happened repeatedly this morning.

Assuming the car is once again NOT getting any fuel and the dealer better check what went wrong here?

Any thoughts? Did anyone who had the fuel system warranty taken care of have a similar issue? Is the fuel pump faulty again?

Thanks in advance.

Remove the front engine cover. You will see in front to the left a Schrader valve with a black plastic cap just like the tire valve. After you try to start it a couple of times push the pin in with your fingernail or something sharp. If it squirts gas then your fuel pump is good. If you want more precise reading you will have to hook up a pressure gauge to that valve.

Thanks very much for the reminder, I indeed had forgotten. I however do hope that they find something wrong with the work they just did a month ago, and that I will not have to pay any monies out of pocket. Fingers crossed.

Car came back from the dealer today.

A pin on the car body wiring harness, connecting to the fuel pump was making a bad connection. Dealer Re-pinned the connector in the harness, now all seems to be good again.

No charge, I love my dealership!

Love would certainly be in the ballpark when speaking about this Sacramento - three location - dealership.

I picked up a CPO coupe at one location after looking at MB's three Silver options at another.

Their finance guy said he'd make it worth my while if I put away my checkbook. He did.

Two comp'ed payments and two 10,000 (all comp'ed) service intervals later, I sure continue to think highly of this long-standing dealership.

Seen that happen a couple times on the 211 with the fuel tank ext warranty. Sometimes it melts the connector, but it sounds like you got lucky and it was just not making contact. Normally you will notice the connector damaged when removing the tank. Glad they took care of you on it.

Same here FOR SURE!
For a quick moment, I lost ALL faith in my W211 and was thinking about getting rid of it. As soon as she was pulled out by the dealer associate, all washed up and sparkling, the relationship was back on as it had never faded.

Sorry, unfortunately I cannot tell you anything more.
At the time this happened to me, I took the car back to the dealer who rectified the issue for me free of charge.

you should be able to remove the back seat by pushing in the holes on each corner of the bottom of the rear seat. That will give you access to the fuel pump under the matting. You will see two access areas. The one behind the driver is the return. The one behind the passenger will give you access to the internal fuel pump where you can inspect the harness. I would suggest pulling the pump out and bench testing it with a battery and swapping/inspecting the hoses as they get real brittle. Hope this helps. I just did my fuel pump and it was about $72 off carparts.com and about 30 mins. Mainly due to the pia piece you have to twist on and off. GLWR

R231 & W113
Do all R231 SL's have the same BCM? Or is it Engine specific?
Can someone share part numbers please?
