Best Color For Brake Calipers ?
Hey guys. It's about that time to get my calipers repainted.
Please let me know which color paint would look best on my calipers.
Thanks!

Now here's the crack , nice AMG calipers need to be shown off , so red or silver .
But fugly bobly cast iron need to be hidden in black so they don't detract from the glory of the slightly curbed silver AMG alloy wheel .
Paint a fugly caliper silver and....

Agreed definitely black or silver. Do not paint those red. Like others mentioned you could always go e55 calipers. I did and several other people did as well. Looks great and fills the wheels but prepare to spend about $1000 and some time doing it.
If not then you more than likely could just directly upgrade to the sport brakes. Those are much nicer looking than what you have.
I believe I still have my sport brake calipers that came on our w211 when I did the swap. They are in perfect condition. If that interests you let me know and we can probably work something out. They've been sitting in a box in the garage just taking up space.
OEM sport brakes on left, OEM AMG on right. Anything next to brembo 8 pistions is going to look tiny, but these are a better look and upgrade to the sliding calipers you have.

Even the 330mm 4 pots (left) are a massive performance improvement over the 295mm sliding calipers and dirt cheap. I did the swap for $120. The 8 pot swap costs more than what most of these cars are worth and you have to drill or swap the spindles. 4 pots are plug and play.

Yep, totally agree. I thought the sport brakes were more than adequate on the car when it had them. They look good and in terms of changing pads it's super easy. This would make the most sense for the OP to do and get rid what he has for the front calipers.

I agree with what has been said above.
This thread on the R230 forum might offer you some additional insight and pictures of different style calipers and colors.
https://mbworld.org/forums/sl-class-...s-not-red.html
The calipers on my R230 were rusty and corroded and looked bad, so I wanted to paint them. I actually took pictures of my wheels, and then used photoshop to get an idea of what it would look like with different caliper colors.
Below are my opinions:
I agree with @Gazwould If you have the sliding calipers all the way around, I would not paint them red. I would go with black, or silver if you really want something other than black.
On my R230, I have the "sport" calipers on the front, and sliding calipers in the back and I went with red (see the forum link above for pictures). In my opinion, the front sport calipers in red turned out pretty good (especially with the decal), but the back slide on calipers are so so... I really debated on red, silver, or black...
I think black would dress up your calipers, hide the rust and corrosion, and make your wheels look better (the calipers would probably disappear). Silver might look ok, but unless you have the sport brakes or bigger, I'm not fan of drawing attention to calipers.
Lastly, I recommend the G2 epoxy paint for calipers (what I used). It is very forgiving and helps hide imperfections.
Just my opinions, but this helps.

Thanks for all of the responses guys. I also agree that painting the sliding calipers any color other than black or silver will look horrible. However i cant get over how gorgeous the Brembo 8 pots look but i don't know if I'm ready to spend atleast 2k+ on a brake kit. The sport calipers seem like a more affordable option from what i’ve read but i just cant find the sport calipers anywhere online for the 211. if any one has the part number it would help tons!

Obviously you'll have to repaint them. These are the 07-09 E350/E550 330mm front brakes.
Another example

I got mine from this seller.

Best $50 I ever spent on my E320 and they fit inside 16" wheels. Just get some new pads and rotors to go with them.
E63 set 6/4 with 2pieces front rotor looks awesome. As per pic. the disc thickness including brake pad look in a good shape.

If you did paint those horrible sliding calipers silver it would be highlighting how ugly they are so the answer is black .
As above find some Sport model calipers , they do cross over to the other models , so not as rare as you think .
