COVID 19 symptoms in W211?

Hi All,

My W211 E220 CDI has never been driven since 16th March 2020 due to COVID19 lockdown in Sri Lanka. Well, I start it pretty much everyday and let it sit idling for about half an hour every two three days. As of lately I noticed a sudden hiccup in the engine once or twice after about a minute of idle running. RPM drops close to zero and comes back to life this happened couple of times and after it happens, engine won't rev beyond 3000 R.P.M. This was never the case when I was running it on daily basis. I also know these need to run and sitting in one place isn't healthy for them at all but I'm out of options.

Anyone else experienced this and what could seem to be the problem. Have to wait till lockdown to lift before I reach out to my usual MB expert who has a scanner.

You may want to drive it around for about 15 minutes probably at least once a week. I'm not certain of the situation in Sri Lanka, but if you can make loops around your block or neighbourhood that should be beneficial.

On some, revs are limited to certain RPM if car is on Park mode. Maybe give it a try in Neutral? Not sure if that gear has a rev limit.
And I'd also say to drive it around for 10-15 minutes and give it a few pulls and see how it behaves. If it continues to do that and RPM drops, could be a sign of early misfire or Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor gone bad. I'm just speculating. The misfire can be from bad O2 sensor. I'm saying these 2 issues is because I've experienced these two. I had a bad MAF on my W211 and it would be a little jumpy time to time. And RPM would drop and go up and shake/jerk a little in my current CLS. Plenty of misfiring codes were showing and it was the bad O2 sensor.

So give it a drive and then see how the car behaves. Do give it a few mild pulls and see if you feel the loss of power.

Letting it sit idle for 30 minutes every couple days isn't doing the car any good honestly. You aren't heating up the oil and getting it up to the temp that it will boil off any water... Like said above. Either drive it when you can or personally I'd just not turn it on and leave it on a battery tender.

Thanks for the responses. I started driving it around the block for at least 15 mins. However, the limp mode continues. Scanned with a bluetooth OBD code reader and it throws P0192 randomly. The moment I cleared the code, sound of the engine lowered a bit and limp mode went away. However, after idling for sometime the error popped up and sound (diesel rattle sound) increased. After driving around it was just fine and limp mode was gone.

Wondering what is causing to throw P0192 error.

I tried to google that code and almost all websites show the same info:
https://www.engine-codes.com/p0192_mercedes-benz.html

https://www.obd-codes.com/p0192

I haven't had any experience with this code. It seems like there are multiple things that you'd have to check to pin-point the problem. And one site also claimed that it can be a "serious issue."
Good luck, man.

Having the same issue here. Did you ever solve this, if so how? Thanks
