Mr Ninja,
I need to have a central gateway module programmed and was hoping if it's possible to go from halogen to xenon on a 06 E350, is that possible with your service?
Thanks
Ramon

Anybody know how much it costs just to rent this system for a one time use to fix an issue? I’m having a helluva time getting my new ISM coded since I didn’t get it installed at the dealer, and the place who did do it, and promised me they could code it no problem, are now having problems and giving me the run around. I’m tempted to just get my car back to my house and rent one of these systems just to get it don’t. This has been a nightmare! I’ve only owned my car for 2 dadgum months!

Hi
sorry to tell you that the rental service is not (yet) made for these small jobs
I am willing to help you as non-member but you will have to pay rental ($150) + 2 hours time ($350)
you might consider becoming a member and get this for free (repairs are free for members)

OK, thank you for replying. Thats too expensive for this small job. I will just get the dealer to take care of it if my situation is not resolved by the shop today. Thanks again!

Is it expensive once you OWN the computer, have a membership and get your problem solved NEXT TIME you need something figured out?

Seems a worthwhile investment in yourself.

This is very true. And I have been thinking about getting my own system one of these days. A 1,000 dollar upfront cost (or whatever it actually is) would end up saving a lot of money in the long term. Especially when you have an older car, such as myself (2011 e63 AMG). I am thinking hard on it, trust me.

Peter(BenzNinja) built a system for me a few years ago, and that system had not break ever since. For a small upfront fee, now I have saved thousands by now and I have 24/7 support from him in any questions or problems with the car, R230. He is the most reliable and trustworthy person! And his service worth every penny.

Do you mind sharing how much the total cost of said system was? You can DM me if its not appropriate to talk prices on the forum.

This kind of answer makes me wonder about your background in automotive mechanics, and/or computer technology. I have never used BenzNinja's services, but there is no such thing as a small job on these vehicles. There is always a hidden issue, another DTC, etc that will show up during the first scan. Once the real troubleshooting starts 2hr is the minimum time you spent on the vehicle. Only connecting to the system, waiting for it to boot, scan, delete previous codes, rescan, check the vehicle is CLEAN before coding, then coding. Internet connection must be stable, nothing can fail during the process or it is a restart. Then retest the car is OK and no side-effects.

Have you done this kind of work before? Do you have the hardware to do it? Know how to use the hardware consistently not to make a mistake that bricks your car (big paperweight)? The downtime cost of your car sitting outside, and you not enjoying it. The $$$ clock is counting as you wait to make your decision.

You painted yourself into a corner by going to a hack mechanic already, and you have been exposed to the real cost of these repairs (stealership will do it if you buy the module again from them). Say you try to buy the system and learn how to use it (barring mistakes) and multiply for your hourly rate: yearly salary/2000 and you will realize BenzNinja knowledge (based on his reputation in the forum) will be a bargain. At best, you will come even (take this I am giving you a lot of credit to learn the process)

You will find a lot of forum members will help you along. Hope you get your car back in the road,

No offense here, but what are you talking about? I have the ISM installed on my car. It’s at the dealership right now. They are going to code it properly for me tomorrow and that should be that. Why would I have to buy the part again?! This shop assured me they could fix it, and obviously they couldn’t so the dealership is going to straighten it out. They never actually wrote anything to the module/car. I’ve seen the ISM program process done on many YouTube videos and it’s trivial to do. Literally 3 button presses. And for the record I have 20 years of experience in the IT industry. I have no experience in the automotive industry and I never claimed to.

Oh and also this particular part is supposed to be one of the theft protection parts that you’re not allowed to buy unless you have all these certifications or whatever and the dealership sold it to me without a question asked. There is so much conflicting and confusing information out there that it’s maddening.

My mistake if I misunderstood your previous sentence about avoiding the dealer. I guess you did not do it at the dealer the first time for a reason but had to cave into them anyways.

If you think the 3 steps are easy, ask the mechanic who installed it why he could not do it right the first time around when a YouTuber could do it, child's play. Instead, he was giving you the runaround.

Sure. Agree, but the dealer knew that from the start, and likely knew there was a large probability you will come back anyways. Hope they do not charge you too much.

Yeahhhhhh. So I took it to a third party who assured me they could fix it no problem. I went to the dealer and got the part, took it to them and they were supposed to install and program and deliver it back in a few days. That was 10 days ago. It’s been a mess. So. I got it towed to the dealer this morning and they are now going to program it correctly and hopefully get it back to me tomorrow. Sorry for the confusion. I’ll update as to what happens.

Please ask Peter directly about the pricing, it’s probably changed now. My installation was about three years ago and I had C4 unit already. Regardless what you would pay for any diagnostic system, it is the support that has the most value, and in case with Peter, he brought it to unprecedented heights. He was able to drastically improve my 09 SL, and is willing to help any time I ask. So, talk to him and you will not regret buying his services.

He is amazing - ILS+ enabled on my S560 4matic!!!

All his (5) star reviews are from MBWorld he says....

So where are the real users here? What's your experience?

this was a great experience. But it wasn’t easy when we enable it for the first time the problem was that I had some kind of misalignment on the ILS and he was going through the code and redoing it over and over again he didn’t give up.
Then he found a discrepancy in my headlight firmware, that lead him to believe that the headlight has been replaced without any record of it, and someone messed up the headlight replacement.
I went to Mercedes and complained about the headlight and what they told me is that it was physically set wrong so they adjusted the headlight and suddenly the ILS works as expected.
That just tells me that he is really a specialist and he’s able to look into the guts of the software find bugs, and he is a tinkerer

that doesn’t give up.

I took a little video to show you guys how it works:

Benz Ninja is not only legit, it's great.

I took the plunge and signed up for the membership. Today was the first session with Peter and not only is he a nice guy, he's more knowledgeable than most of the Mercedes technicians at any dealership. He turned on Aux, did a seat calibration, turned off the engine stop (at light) and more. I'm going to be working a wish list to go over with him.

I'm using BenzNija very often, 2-3 times a month, and for +2½ year's without any problems at all. Easy to get in touch with, promptly reply and ready at the agreed time. Working very stable and with a impressing knowledge.

Sounds very very strange in my ears.

Probably some competitor/s is jealous of BenzNinja and the troll army at work..... ha ha ha
Peter replies FAST, I mean under 24 hours and usually much sooner like under 4 hours ( depending on our timezone ) and he is always busy doing other people's car too.

Definitely, the issue with BenzNinja is getting out of hand, and as much as he can get fed up so can MB World owners.

I agree these types of posts must be reported; however, let the moderators pass judgment and sentence on their own.

I have been using BenzNinja for more than 5 yrs. I'd argue I was one of his very early customers. Not once have I had an issue with service. Not to mention he literally offers hands down the best diag support available anywhere for these cars.

Sounds like there's a communication breakdown which can easily be corrected. Be patient and work it out it's worth it.
