Question CAN BUS Breakout Connector Harness/Tool

Hi, has anyone used Can BUS breakout connector 220589009930 to help diagnose problems with the X30/7 Driver Side CAN B Connector. I saw this part number mentioned in the excellent article by Steve Brotherton https://www.import-car.com/mastering...-multiplexing/. But the article is dated 2005 and my car is a 2004 W211 - so not sure if this part will fit. Before I spend $60 on this, want to be sure that it'll work. If you want to see a picture of this, here is the link: https://classicparts.mbusa.com/oem-p...t-220589009930. Thanks.

I attempted to purchase that part this past May and the Mercedes parts tech informed me it is no longer available anywhere. He could not locate a replacement part number so I purchased a spare CAN Bus connector off of Ebay and used one of the plugs. This link will give you an idea of how I used it:

Consider using a breakout box that connects to the OBD2 port. Cannot be used on the W210 but the W211 uses an updated CAN Bus.

Thank You. I was wondering whether this part is still available and you clarified it for me. Also thanks for the information about using the X connectors from ebay. About using a breakout box on OBD2 - I do have a breakout box but don't know how that can be used to trace the Can bus faults ... appareciate if you can point me to a previous posting on it.

The breakout box, a multimeter, and access to the junction blocks will allow an amazing amount of troubleshooting. Several good videos on the Tube of You about troubleshooting using only a multimeter. Then it is just monitoring CAN-Hi and CAN-Lo voltages while disconnecting various sub-systems until the voltages stabilize. I was somewhat apprehensive going into it but the diagnosis was much, much easier than I thought it would be.

One faulty module on the CAN B bus can bring down most, if not all of the modules on the bus. In my other post referenced, it was the rear Door Control Module (which never failed and worked fine) that was killing the front Door Control Modules and the Lower Control Module.

See the attached. Good info on multiple models to include voltage levels (different upon year and model as the modern versions were brought onto the production line) and junction block locations.

Thanks again! Found a really nice video which goes through all the steps to removing the door sill, locating the can bus connector, removing the wire plugs etc. It is for a different application (MOD4CARS Rooftop) and a CLK but still was worthwhile for me as the video is done in a conversational format and applies just as well to W211. Just sharing for anyone who stumbles into this post looking for the same information.

CANBUS C connector sleeves

Please tell me where the X37/2 and X37/3 CAN bus connector sleeves and X63/6 CAN bus 15 U connector would be. Thank you.

scanner skipping again

My scanner tool skips CAN-C modules. Orielly's scanner returned "connection failed". The CAN-C distribution block in the driver's rocker panel trough is in clean, good condition and tested functional. No vehicle trouble. Runs well. Scanner reads CAN-B. ECU tested functional. CGW swap out returned same skipping. SAM replaced and initially ran a clean diagnostic report...only to drop CAN-C modules again a few days later. Only DTC: 930E Stored&Current Synchronization of the DTC memory cannot be ensured. This trouble code is not listed from my list of 913 possibilities. I want to use the OBD to take control of the SBC and airmatics if needed. ATM scanner returns "no connection".

CAN diag explained well:

Thank you for your reply. Have a great day.
