Service G came up and.... what next?
Flexible Service System PLUS (FSS PLUS)
• Evaluates engine temperature, oil level, vehicle speed, engine speed, brake wear, distance driven and the time elapsed since your last service. The interval between services depends on your driving habits.
• Next necessary service is indicated in the multifunction display in the instrument panel.
• Maintenance services will be indicated by showing a service type A (minor service) through H (major service).
• A “+” sign after the service type display indicates that the brake lining thickness must be checked.
• Calculates and determines the service items (1-14) that need to be performed.
When the service type appears in the multifunction display, you can use the vehicle’s control system to view a list of the service items that need to be performed at the called for service type.
Calling up the service data information
• Switch ignition on.

Items: 3,5,7,9,10,12,14
Additional Items: 1,2,3,5,7,8,9,10,12
If then, what's my jobs to do?

Thanks for the info. More helpful than the Service Manual on disc which I have returned. Couldn't understand a word of the instructions even to start it up on my PC. Tom

Hi
Done my own oil change with Service A and do not know the steps to reset the reminder.
My is 2011 E350 convertible.
Tried various way that I have done it with my old CLK350 but failed to do it.
Pressed the reset button and it seems that the button did not "spring back" and I am lost from there.
Need help from fellow members and will appreciate any response. Thanks.

Had my '08 E320 Bluetec in for service last week and had a Service A, transmission service, and a diesel fuel filter. I had asked that the FSS be reset after the work, but it seems they forgot. The car was indicating service was overdue and some additional items were listed under "items" and more under "addt'l work". I was able to clear out 8 codes under "addt'l", but was not able to clear S5, S10 & S12 under the regular "items" menu. I had just had the fuel filter and oil change done so I was not very happy these codes were not reset despite requesting in writing on the RO. My wife took the car back today and upon leaving, the service writer told her there were still 3 codes left but "not to worry because we don't use the FSS anymore"! When I called the service manager, he is telling me some codes cannot be reset (by me) via the console and require the STAR diagnostic tool to reset. Is this true? Seems like anyone should be able to reset oil and fuel filter minders. Brakes maybe not due to safety, but filters? They are changing the engine air filters out at no charge as a gesture of good faith when they reset the FSS, but I'd like to know if others are able to reset the S5, S10 & S12 codes, and does the fact that I cannot indicate another problem?

Service Manager now confirms they cannot reset the S5, S12 and S14 indicator with the STAR tool and there is no further action to be taken. Company line is again "everything is normal and, we haven't used FSS since 2003-2004" . Should I take it to a second dealer, or just forget about it?

I have a US 2009 E320. It wants Service D items 2,3,9,20,12,14 additional 2,3,5,8,9,10,16,20,12. I have collected a number of FSS Service Sheets for different year Model 211's and can find what the service codes mean, except for 16. I also have a Service Sheet for 2009 model 211 (AP00.20-U-1208DE) which says "Service sheet for Mercedes Benz Maintenace System (USA)" it does NOT say FSS like the older sheets. The newer "Maintenance System" sheet has no reference to Service codes.
So:
Did Mercedes stop doing FSS for US 2009 E320?
Do I have the wrong Service sheet?
What is an additional service code 16?

As it pertains to the 211:
MY03-04 FSS+ (Flexible Service System Plus)
There is no minor “A” or major “B” services - service intervals based on oil quality determined by the vehicle’s oil quality sensor. The alphabetic designations (A, B, C…..H) do not represent minor or major services more commonly known as Service A and Service B instead these codes strictly represent an estimated amount of time required to perform the corresponding service.
MY05-Present MBMS (Mercedes-Benz Maintenance System)
A through H in the display based on estimated time needed to perform the maintenance service, ranging from Service A (approximately 1 hour) to Service H (approximately 8 hours).
MY09 new 10000-mile maintenance strategy implemented for all models and engine variants. Not certain what 16 is but simply follow the mileage/time elapsed requirements on MY09 service sheet.

service schedule
My 2006 E320 CDI is showing service D as coming due with the following US service items.
US Service 2,3, 9, 12,14
Additional work 1,2,3,5,8,9,10,12, 16,20
My car has only 27000 miles and it had an oil change and service B only a year ago at 25,000 (it has done only ~2000 miles! in the last year). Is it necessary to do all of the aforementioned items? It seems like the on-board computer jut pops up these items based upon time elapsed since the vehicle was put in service and just assumes that the car is doing a certain mileage during that period of time. Of course, in my case 27,000 miles is too low for a 6 year period. But does it mean I have to go through the exact regimen?

Some serves are both miles and time dependent, like the oil/filter change which Mercedes says needs to be done at least once a year. Likewise with spark plugs which Mercedes says at least every five years. I don't drive enough miles to trigger the oil change service, but the service message still pops up one year after the last service.

Australian e350 5/2005 build 100,000kms
Just bought this lovely, after selling my 1999 e320v6.
Its only had 4 services 3 at the selling dealer in Canberra ACT NSW,spoke to the service manager there before I bought the car, wasn,t much help other than to say it was a lovely and email me copy of the original new vehicle order option spec sheet.
The 4th service was also done in Canberra NSW by another dealer, spoke to the service manager there who also assured me the car was a lovely, asked him for the previous owners details but said privacy laws prohibit that.
Its due for a 100,000kms service after xmas I am in Melbourne ,(Mornington Peninsula )Victoria, what are the items required on that 100km service schedule( so I dont get ripped off) and any recommendations for those local to me as for costs and where to get that done by an honest workshop

MBWorld Fanatic!
Also, replace fuel filter every 20,000 miles? Really? Seems excessive.
