Front Tri-star Emblem, why do you replace it with a flat Badge?
On the other hand, I know of a lot of people who remove the emblem because they are tired to replacing the stolen star! I only lost one star and that was in Eastern Europe. I promptly replaced it when I got back to Germany.
I can see that some people could see it as a distraction, but I don’t think that one can say that it is blocking the view of anything. I kind of tend to agree with BudC.

The flat hood emblem is one of the most inexpensive and easy mods to do so it's usually one of the first ones that gets done.
At first it was hard for me to get used to but I got over it. I like my flat badge although I may go back and forth just to spice things up a bit.
Only the finest quality **** should get Starmarked, and only after a thorough inspection by my certified female body inspection staff.
Kia imprinted backwards on your forehead or something, might not be as cool.

Just another perspective here,

BTW...I reinstalled the regular grill and star because I thought I was going to sell the car. Since I have been driving MB's since the mid-seventies it kind of looks nice again. But I have the option to use either set up.

Nowadays with wind resistance measured in hundreths of a decimal, on top of a very sleek car, they are a throwback. If the car came with the same star flat mounted glued to the hood like the letters on the trunk, or of it came with the flat emblem that people are installing in the recess in the hood stamping, it would be fine with me... I like them too, but in my case I wanted a top notch 'fine' automobile all my life, the star on the hood whispers to me every day, thet I have one now. (I'm sure to those on the other side of the windshield it screams, but so does an inexpensive car with a 1000 watt stereo costing more than the car did, with pulsating, vibrating license plates, wrong colored aftermarket lights & trun signals, scoops, and spoilers that look like handles on a hat box, wheels that keep spinning after you come to a stop, and a muffler that looks like a keg swinging under the car in the 3 1/2 inch ground clearance... No difference to some, I suppose, just less subtle.) Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

As for tradition, there is even another OE star. This one is from a 1914 Benz.
It was first installed to assist visually impaired drivers to tell what car was theirs. They would go out into the car park and gently rub their gloved hand over the bonnet. If they found a Spirit of Ecstasy, Flying B, or Prancing Jaguar then they would move on until they found the three pointed star.
Unfortunately times have changed and these people no longer rub their gloved hand gently over the bonnet. Instead they use baseball bats and swing them against the side of each car, hence all these 'car park dings' that we are always reading about.
Oh for the more gentile days before the 'car park ding'
Morning everyone,

A sunny, but cool morning in Torquay
