Do your intermittent wipers go thump?
I had my intermittent wipers on for the first time today and they drove me crazy! Every time they came up from their "parked" position the far end of the passenger side wiper thumped against a piece of plastic/rubber on that side of the windshield. I had to keep the wipers in constant wipe mode so it wouldn't happen. I searched and didn't see anyone else post about this problem on this group yet. Is anyone else having this loud thump from their wipers?

Could be they are hitting the windshield trim. If this is the case, it is because the blades have been installed incorrectly. Try swapping them and see if this fixes the problem. I have seen this happen and it could be the case as they are right/left specific.

I had the same problem when I took delivery of my E350 4MATIC about a month ago. It turned out the two windshiled wipers are of different lengths and they had been installed on the opposite sides of where they should be.
I took it to the dealer and they reversed them and the problem was solved.

That was the problem! The wipers were swapped. Thanks for the help! Swapping them back was super easy too! Great design. I can only imagine how much they will cost to replace.

My wipers were also making that annoying thump; almost seemed that the mechanism was not sync'd properly.
Following everyone's advice here, I just swapped the left / right blades and everything is perfect! Appears that the driver blade is 2.0 " longer and this interferes with the windshield molding on the passenger side, when installed improperly...
Now, how could MB not be checking this at some point? Factory, dealer prep, final inspection? At least 4 people here (myself included) with this issue.. I'm sure there will be others.
Glad it was a simple fix, however!
Many thanks to the OP and all who replied.

MBWorld Fanatic!
I went yesterday to my local dealer to choose the E I'd like and when we got the car and started to drive it on a lot - I noticed the car has small wipers instead of regular ones. The dealer told me this is delivery wipers and normal wipers are in the trunk and they install it at the time of delivery. So..I assume it's normal when they don't know what they doing and switch driver's and pasenger's side wipers ...LOL
