Does anyone know of any cool hacks for the new E class?

My BT streaming works perfectly on MY10, however I never did any software updates and my car was from early batch. However I do not see song title on screen. Can it be related to software update or just because my phone is really old? It runs Android 2.3 and I didn't have a chance to test with iPhone or other more modern phones.

I updated my phone's software to Android 4.2 and it still doesn't show song titles, track info etc . It's about operating system rather than phone I believe .
Nokia (symbian ones ) can show ,I don't know Windows 8 because I have not tried any Lumia phones

However, Audi's system whatever they call it supports track titles because a few weeks ago I read a comparison test BMW,Audi , Mercedes-Benz involved and Audi's screen showed track info when they connected Samsung phone that uses Android

Well, I have discovered something new ,let's say you press the mute button when listing to radio if you press DISC button it automatically cancels it and you can keep listening to music w/o pressing any other volume +/- or mute button again or same visa versa

Pausing and resuming during calls and other activities work correctly. Sad situation that a friend of mine uses same playing program but his phone is Samsung S4. He told me like he can see tracks info and even in different languages. So I am currently do shopping for S4. Since Nexus 5 is out it should affect price of S4 toward reduction.

Am I right in saying that if I connect my iPhone via Bluetooth for the phone functionality, I will not be able to connect to the same phone via BlueTooth for music streaming? I understood that I would either need a different Bluetooth device per function (voice & music) or I would need to disconnect the iphone from voice calls before being able to perform music streaming. Is this correct?

It is incorrect. Phone can be connected for both functions and transparently switch in between as required. You can check pairing attributes to limit phone to do only one function, but I do not see any benefits of that.

Thanks Dema for the confirmation - I'll review my settings again and find out why that's not working for me.

Make sure your syncing your phone via the external authorization method
If my phone syncs in the normal manner I can only use it as a phone

No. You can use the iPhone for both calls and music. I just remember I had to do External Authorization to get it working when I had the iPhone.

Thank you!

Thanks Arrie and DMighty - both correct - I needed to configure the phone application on the MBenz via External Authorization. After that, I was able able to stream audio correctly and take calls.

Thanks again!

Yes, I does.
I did notice that when using the Bluetooth streaming and then switching to phone it seemed like it disconnected (music streaming) then reconnected again to the phone functionality.

I will check again tomorrow and pay more attention to the behaviour.

In answer to your question though, it is reconnecting after engine off and on.

Confirmed today after turning that back on from overnight, the phone part worked as normal, but the Bluetooth streaming needed to "Connect to last device". When selecting this (several times) most of the time the iphone did not connect.

Disappointing!

I should also add that when trying to "Connect to last device" for Bluetooth audio streaming, it kicks out the Bluetooth connection to the phone. In essences it appears to be a single connection to the phone rather than being able to handle multiple concurrent connections.

- go to audio, then go to the audio tab again to bring up the drop down menu of audio options, select BT audio and activating audio device comes up, then the audio streaming screen

I have included screen shots of all the important steps (sorry for the poor quality but it was night time and the flash on my phone kept going off) Let me know if I need to clairfy ne thing.
Jinx, awesome step by step guide. Thanks for the pictures. I have a 2011 GLK 350 with the navi/command system. I am able to access the engineering menu but I do not see an option for the BT Audio under the HU Parameters. Is this a software issue that maybe an upgrade could fix? Thanks!

Did you have an option for BT Audio under your audio menu prior to making the changing in Engineering mode or did appear afterwards?

I believe (not 100%) that it was there prior to me checking the engineering settings. I wasn't overly bothered by having bluetooth audio, so didn't pay too much attention to it.
I won't be using it if when streaming audio it disconnects the phone functionality - thats no good!

The instructions didn't work for me precisely, but I could find some BT settings under some hardware menu. So if you do not see same menu items as in the instructions, then just try to dig on yourself, You can't make any damage. For example BT started working for me instantly as I only selected them from menu, so I didn't need to do any system reset.

Yea, I am thinking that if I don't see an option to enable BT Audio my software needs to be updated. Is this something that can be outside of a dealership? I have read several posts that indicate dealerships are hesitant to perform updates.

I had W212 from first production batch and my software never has been updated. I just say that menu may look differently, than given in the post. You can just play with menu system and see if BT menu appears on second or third level.

I experience the same behavior. I took it to the dealer today and couldn't get them to upgrade the software. If you connect the BT audio first via external authentication and then go to the phone option and attempt to connect, it will connect. allowing you to use your phone and stream.

Thanks for all the quick responses!

What I am truly trying to achieve is to avoid is messing with my phone while I am driving. I use spotify with a windows phone and to change the song I have to use my phone- and take my eyes off of the road. Does anyone know if the apple interface (32 pin connector) will work with spotify on a iphone/pad? I might just be able to by a 3g ipad and the problem is solved.

If not, I am hoping that a 2011 X204 (i know this is a W212 thread, you guys rock) with the multimedia package should have the BT Audio feature stored away somewhere if it exists in other models previously.

Earlier in this post someone asked about a list that describes each feature in the engineering menu. Anyone find that?

When you drive with the navi on. If you want to make a stop over at a gas station or restaurant or any other POI does your navi let you "map" it first or is that tab grayed out at the bottom left corner? If that tab does not work then your navi is not working correctly and you need the update.

I took it for a quick spin but it wouldn't list any of the POIs
I have a few gas stations within a mile so not sure why it wasn't listing them. I know when I drove it from Georgia, it pulled up the POIs
Maybe I was doing something wrong Ill try again tomorrow on the way to work. I don't need to actually set a destination, do I?

Hi DMighty, yes that is also what I've experienced. The problem has been that starting the car the next day, the phone part connects automatically, but the BlueTooth streaming does not reconnect (I get the option to "connect to last device") and fails.
