E350 side marker & light bulb
I want to replace the orange side markers with white ones, where can I buy them?
Also, which LED light bulb size would fit in the license plate lamp?

For the LED license plate lamps, try superbrightleds.com. There, you can cross-reference your license plate lamp at sylvania.com and get a matching LED festoon bulb. They also sell in-line load resistors to alleviate that 'lamp defective' error message. I bought a set from them more than a year and a half ago and they haven't blown out on me yet.

better ask you dealer. but I don't think that the replacement of the bulb will void the warranty. You can find out here how to take the side markers off: https://mbworld.org/forums/e-class-w...demarkers.html

I don't think anything is pop and change in MB.... It took me 2 hours to remove partial trunk lining to replace LED on license plate and gave up.

I've been meaning to post these for some time now. I found them on e-bay:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2010-...item27b17e80ab
Seller was awesome and they shipped super fast!
I had them installed at the MB service department. It took them about 30 min and they charged me about $35 for labor... Worth it to me. Also, I had them keep the white bulbs instead of the chrome because the chrome ones still showed orange light when they were activated.
I think they are WORLDS better than the orange eye sores. You can see the comparison to my signature pic.

I'd prefer them to be 100% painted black, but the smoked lenses were the cheapest and simplest option. Took about 30 minutes to install.
Next up: tinted windows.
But first I have to resolve my "check engine" light that just came on today.
Oh, and I forgot ... also have to replace my front right tire as there is a screw stuck in the sidewall.
Along with the 3 inch scratch on the car, it has not been a good first month of ownership!

I just put a set on in smoked color. I, too, would like clear. Looking at the pics, they look the same. Might be worth getting a set of sedan markers in clear to try.

This is what happens with me: I bought a pair of clear side markers for my E350 white. The orange ones were really easy to take off.
Then the nightmare: The clear ones seems to be a bit larger or different than the originals. While i was trying to make it fit, the tip of the marker got broke (the one that is more to the front of the car). I put some clear super glue and tried again. Now it fit. But have a lot of troubles trying to make the back of the marker get into the strap (on the black piece inside). And worse of all, the marker scratched the paint and because is clear, you can see an ugly black spot under de marker. Solution: Back to the orange ones.
If some one knows a vendor on Ebay that has clear side markers that fit perfectly on the E350 W212, please post the link.
Thanks.

Hey where do you go to paint the side markers completely black and how much would it be around?

Like another poster said, removing the side marker lights is a violation of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards 108. While it is up to the different states to assure compliance, some states, like PA, will fail a car during the recurring inspection if the correct sidemarkers are not present.
Some jurisdictions even enforce this through their police forces. In theory, this is "operating a vehicle with defective equipment" that could result in a ticket and - if you are obnoxious to the cop - an impound and tow.
While I've heard of animpound for sidemarkers (impounds for aftermarket headlights are not unheard of) it certainly is possible.

We have to legislate for the dumbest amongst us.
If you are in an area that has periodic inspections and that jurisdiction checks for sidemarkers then you'll fail inspection.
More importantly, if you are involved in an accident then your insurance company may deny you coverage if your car is missing a Federally mandated safety device.
Now you have more facts to make your own educated decision.

haha, on my 550 I had smoked markers installed; was showing them to the guy who sold me the car, and he says "oh yeah, those?? yeah they'll pass them", giving me the look and headshake of assurance........
I am going to let everyone know he said that come time to inspect, and I am going to see it happen.......
dealers will say ANYTHING........lol

Sidemarkers were mandated for the 1968 MY based on a bunch of idiots T-boning cars that they "couldn't see."
