Is there a way to create a knockthrough between the trunk and rear armrest?
Can anyone help me find a solution for creating a clean and nice "knockthough" between the trunk of my 2011 E350 (going through the rear armrest area, when it is declined).
I need to transport hockey sticks, skis, etc... The new manual shows one (page 279)...but it aint in my car!!!
Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

Not certain but I think that that option is available from the factory when ordering. I have no need for it so I did not pay much attention to it.

You can have the ski bag (option code 282) but only with P08 or option 287 (folding rear seat). Ski bag is good for hockey sticks but if the sticks are clean and dry enough, you do not need to use the bag, just open the door.
Unfortunately if you did not have this from the factory, retrofitting isn't exactly straightforward.

Pass thru
I gotta imagine there is a way to do it - if the car is available with the split folds - there can't be that significant a difference in what sits behind the non fold option seats...meaning there should be a "punch out" or an outline for one. I got the split fold for that exact reason...hockey sticks...

Rear seat pass thru
My Lexus IS had a pass thru like this - wondering if it can't be done via MB parts - maybe you could get your hands on the lexus trim panel and interior finishing "door" that hides between armrest and rear seat panel and do a custom retrofit?

Without knowing what it looks like, I'm assuming you have you have an arm rest that could fold up to conceal the opening... so why couldn't you have a shop take a sawzall to it and round off/cover the sharp edges? I don't know how big of a hole you need but I don't see why this couldn't be done.

For ski equipment, why not get a roof or trunk rack? Hockley sticks can hang out the window unless it's a long trip for out of town tournaments. In that case the the roof rack can handle it. The best part, when the Winter sport season is over, the rack comes off. That may be your most economical and efficient solution.

He said he could make it seamless... so obviously when the arm rest is up nothing is evident. When the armrest is down and I need to poke the sticks through the cavity, all I will need to do is remove a cap from behind the armrest and poke the ol' Bauers through the whole.
I will let you know and post pics when I find the time to actually do it.
