Sorry if this is a repost, but it was in today's NYT. Just a heads up to any owners here who might be affected. Although you should be getting a letter, if you haven't already.

Apparently the recall concerns 2010 W212 sedans and 2010/2011 coupes (plus the C Class.) It doesn't appear to be engine specific.
Here are the recall documents released this week...

Thanks for posting the documents. MY2011 W212's are not affected by this recall.

V generally indicates sedan long wheelbase (ie: S-Class)
X generally indicates truck (X204 = GLK, built on C chassis, X164 = GL, built on ML chassis)
R indicates roadster
C indicates coupe
A indicates cabriolet
The E-Coupe is a C207. The C-Coupe will be a C204.

V generally indicates sedan long wheelbase (ie: S-Class)

Thanks for the clarification. The current 2010 E Coupe is the C207, but were the previous years ever called the W207?

I called MB Customer service and they intially told me my 2010 E350 was not part of the recall, and then they notified me the next day that it was. I still haven't received a letter yet and rather wait for it, I scheduled to get the recall work/fix applied. Service advisor siad it would take about 45 minutes.

I believe re-torquing (tighten) something in order to prevent possible leakage of power steering fluid (which is the primary cause for the recall). I read that somewhere, but check out http://wheels.blogs.nytimes.com/2010...ng-problem/?hp which gives more details of the problem than other links.

My dealer has just verified my VIN is not in the affected list. I was also told mostly 2010 C-Class are affected. So many (or some) of the E- Class owners may not receive this letter.

Your local dealer (wherever you take it for service) who already has your VIN will be able to verify over the phone if your VIN is in the affected list.
