Will you upgrade your LED daytime running lights?

my hockey sticks aren't used for daytime
My zenons are used for daytime lights instead of the hockey sticks; seems dumb. Do others have their hockey sticks used for daytime? Is there a way to do this? Seems to make more sense to use the LED's which have a longer life and look more distinctive. This is what Audi does. Am I wrong? thx.

That car above is a 2010 Bluetec, with the Sport Package (hence the smaller wheels with the AMG Bodywork, and the badge on the fender).
I agree to an extent. The hockey's were never really appropriate for an M-B Luxury Sedan, and are kind of "ricer". But now that I have them, I prefer them on this particular car more-so than the more elegant, appropriate, "corporate" look of the straights, if even for "exclusivity" over anything else. I do think the angular and aggressive look does work with the 212 though.
Thank you! IMO, the roof spoiler is kind of pointless on Pano, and spoils the look from the back. If you do go with it though, I'd probably go white, as you wouldn't really be able to notice it's up there if it were black.

I think they are going to be consistent throughout the range. No sense in keeping an old, now out-of-favour design on AMG sport package. The hockey stick design was always a bit absurd and not in keeping with the luxury image of Mercedes - the design is an affectation.
We will see when I get my February 2011 build car with AMG package.

Not feeling that at all. Looks like it's stuck in the late 90's "Altezza" fade, and there's too much non-tinted LED detailing that's jumbled up in there, with the red surroundings just looking busy and unfinished.
I'd like to see it on a car though, but I don't think I'd spring for it.

It doesn’t look that easy judging from how the straight DRL's are implemented.
Looking at the pictures I think it may require a little more than changing inserts. But I dont know this for sure.

Hi,
I start by saying that:
to mount your kit you must disconnect the fog lights.
This process automatically determines me the error "failure fog left and right. "
Proceeding with the connection of your kit, the plug of the fog light is disconnected.
The installation was done in two different ways:
1° MODE:
1° step :
The electrician has connected the "black wire" to the machine frame to create a ground circuit.
2° step:
The "red wire" has been linked to the ignition of my car so when I turn the key, the LEDs light up.
3° step:
The "blue / white wire" ,in the manual so called "A", has been linked to the positive pole of the fog light.
Because the controller is supplied with the kit allows different modes of operation:
1st: Only DRL
2nd: DRL + POSITION LIGHT
SPECIAL BRIGHTNESS 3 ° <300 CANDELA
I chose the second option, or DRL + Position light.
4° step:
To have this option, we have connected the wire called "D " (blue), which comes from the control unit supplied, with the thread called "F".
5° step:
We have connected the "orange wire" to the positive terminal of the tail lights
With the scheme that I listed above I get the following effect:
With the scheme that I listed above I get the following effect:
When I turn the key LEDs light up in DRL mode even if the system is turned offlights.
When I turn on the lights to position the LED DRL mode decreases the brightnessand turn lights.
When I turn on the fog lights, LEDs do not increase the brightness but remain in position lamps
2° MODE:
We connected the wires is different from the first only for the 4° and 5°step:
We have connected the blue wire / with the positive pole of the tail lights
while the orange wire to the positive pole of fog light.
This last procedure, however, does not allow the LEDs to function.
After having described how to connect the kit made by my electrician, can you tell me if there is any link wrong?
And if there were, can you tell me how to fix the wire connection?
MY ELECTRIC HAS DOUBTS:
Doubts about the connection of two WIRES:
1 wire:
THE LINE BLUE / WHITE CALLED "A" IN THE MANUAL
(My electrician has connected this wire to the positive pole of the fog)
The manual says that you must connect it to the light position, but in doing so, theLED flashes quickly.
2nd wire:
THE ORANGE LINE CALLED "B " IN THE MANUAL
(My electrician has connected this wire to the positive pole of lights)
The manual says that you must connect it to the "signal light" so as to convert light toposition light drl When signal light is on.
My electrician does not interpret what the user means by the term "signal light".
Please help me!

I went to the dealership this weekend and they found the part number as valid and it had to be ordered from Germany... of course
I took the leap of faith and ordered... They say it should be here in 10 days.
Came out to 486 with tax

I assume your 2010 has the dual fog lights? So are you getting the hockey sticks or the straight LED's? 'Cause I'm pretty certain that if you have a Sport Package, the only LED's that will fit and work with the bumper and the hockey sticks.

I currently have the "hockey sticks". I verified with the guy in the parts department and all should be good to go
"A retrofit kit is being offered at the same time to owners of previous editions of the E-class sedans and T-variants who want to convert their “hockey stick” daytime running lights to the new straight horizontal design. This conversion service is to be offered by Mercedes-Benz dealers to owners who want their daytime running lights converted from the angled design to the straight design."

Wow, that's interesting, and I had no idea they had a retrofit available. I'm happy with the more unique-to-the-car hockey sticks, but please post picks of the straighters when you get them! Very interested to see how they look!
Edit: Come to think of it, I hope the guy knows what he's talking about. The LUXURY bumper definitely is able to be fit with the straight'ers, but I have yet to ever see a Sport bumper'd W212 with a straight across fit for it.

I hope M-B starts putting the straight design on the W212's starting in 2012 so the hockey sticks can become a relatively rare look in due time. The "double-fog" guys got it good, since their cars will have the rarest look of all (although unfortunately IMO it's not a very good look, lol).

You're right KA, although the look is pretty rare, the look is a bit old school.
I do wish I had LED fogs and wonder if there is any way I can get either LED's on my car.
Anyone know?
