LED DRLS

FYI: Called the dealer today and found the if you have the "Hockey Stick" LED's and the AMG style bumper you can convert to the 2012 style straight LEDS.
The lamps (both sides) and grill inserts (both sides) run $205.00+tax from MB. Seems like a pretty cheap conversion if one chooses to do so.

MB would not give me the part numbers. They gave me a quote number to place the order if I decide to perform the swap.

This is *not* a retro fit for non-led e-class. Just a part swap for existing LED DRL's.

Wow, that's actually super cheap, considering what M-B parts usually cost. I'd imagine $205 would be an actual decent/believable price from them for each side in fact.

Looks like I'll save $205 since I like the hockeys better anyway.

Edit: Obviously I'm sure that doesn't include install, though.

Is that in the Constitution or in the Bill of Rights?

It is pretty tacky not to give a customer a part number (I'm sure a different dealer will be glad to oblige.)

Yeah, I think a different dealer would. The local MB dealer is part of a Nation Wide Chain (didn't buy my E from them and this is one reason).

The price breakdown was Black Grill insert was $35.00 for each side and each lamp was $70ish for each side. Not bad if it plugs right in.

I love the E just the way she sits. I tried the grill and removed it. I will keep it stock with no mods. I'm sensing my wife is getting a little jealous...lol

so this cheap swap is only for the ones who have hockey sticks, not for the quad drl guys? i guess not too many would change as most of us like the hockey sticks more than the straight ones. but if it works on the quad drl and if hockey sticks are too complicated/expensive to change, more of the quad drl guys, including myself, will definitely consider.

This is swap would be for existing LED DRL's only. Otherwise you would need the retrofit kit.

thank you for the link and i've read it before. i'm sorry i didn't make it clear enough, i wanted to know the kit for hockey sticks. btw, $500-600 is expensive but not too bad for people who hate the quad that much. but labor is another story.

Does anybody have part numbers for this yet or recommend a dealer in the LA (SoCal) area that knows anything about doing this swap. BH and SAMO delers are absultely clue-less (and worthless). TIA

That's a badass picture. And to think, I get so upset when my car is covered in dust!

The W212 looks so tough, especially when faced with tough conditions. I still prefer the uniqueness and aggression of the hockey sticks as well, but to each their own. From what I understand, the straight-bars are a bit brighter, so that's a perk.

i've read someone said it's doable from quad to straight and it's fairly cheap, around $200 for parts only. but that person didn't know the part numbers. to hockey sticks is pricier, maybe around $5-600. those prices are not including labors. so if anyone is interested, can call their parts/service dept and ask for more details.

Why are the hockey sticks more expensive to convert into than the straights?

to be very honest, i can't remember the whole post and i could be wrong on changing from quad to straight. it could be changing from hockey sticks to straight. that's why it's cheaper. and the $5-600 is from quad to hockey. please correct me if i'm wrong.
