if the straight led are for the luxury models only then nothing is going to be changed for the canadian models

 

uh-oh... I may be f*#ked on the straight LED retrofit. I found another article that mentions its not suitable for the avant-garde package even though i currently have the hockey-sticks

i sure hope this doesnt turn out to be a 500$ blunder... I'll know in a couple days.

Yup, hate to say it but that seems to be the case IMO. If so, surely they'd have to take it back since the Rep said that they'd fit your car?

 

If I can get him to admit it. I just have to wait until I get it in my hands and open it at the counter.

I might be able to clear up some confusions regarding straight LED retrofit.

I live in Asia and just recently purchased an W212 with straight LED model.

If you have:

US Sport Package bumper (AMG style) - you CAN NOT retrofit. If you want, you can modify your bumper. Some friends actually did this. Took some time but doable. the standard retrofit package WILL NOT fit directly.

US Luxury bumper (with hockey sticks LED ) - you CAN retrofit directly.

Asia Luxury bumper (with hockey sticks LED) - you CAN retrofit directly.

Asia Avantgarde bumper - you CAN retrofit directly.

**Luxury model with dual fog lights bumper..I dont know whether you can retrofit it or not.

A lot of people confuse about the availability of the retrofit kit. Mercedes benz failed to explain that the straight LED is not intended for US sport package bumper (AMG style). BUT you can retrofit to luxury bumper (only if the bumper comes with hockey stick LED).

**for info:

in Asia, we have luxury, avantgarde, AMG-sport (not AMG E63). in 2010, luxury model comes with the same bumper as US luxury model and hockey stick LED. While avantgarde and AMG model comes with hockey stick LED.
**note: US doesnt have Avantagarde bumper. It looks slightly the same with luxury but if you see it in person, the avantgarde has slightly lower and bigger diffuser at the bottom. The car also uses Sport suspension thus lower than the luxury model .

in 2011, luxury model and avantgarde are changed to straight LED. While AMG sport model (Sport package in US) still uses hockey stick LED.

The possibility of a mod raises my hopes a little bit. Otherwise, I will have to try and plead my case down at the parts department to get my money back once they arrive

 

All 2012 models will have the straight LED's, not the hockey sticks.

 

If that is the case then you would be able to upgrade even the AMG style assuming they did not change the shape?

 

That's great news! Finally some variation among W212's on the road. I for one am happy that the more unique Hockey Sticks will be a bit different and rarer from the rest of the line in the coming years.

 

I am partial to the Hockey Sticks since I'm the head coach at Varsity Hockey Program. Regardless, I will be taking the new W212's out for a test drive late summer / early fall.

 

I went to pick up the straight LED's at the dealership yesterday, and they absolutely do not fit. no way... no how. epic fail

could've probably modified them, but i dont want to cut up my bumper

The guy behind the counter was cool about it. I explained what happened and he looked in his system and found that it doesnt specify, except 1 place. The mesh plastic insert that the LED mounts too. He said that even though it was a special order, he would take it back and gave me a full refund. Helluva cool guy

Hey guys, I dont post too much but Ive been searching like crazy where to buy the led daytime running lights. Ive got a C250 with AMG style. In first place, I wanted the L-shaped lights, just like the E-Class but then I saw the new 2011 c-class with straight led fog lights. I dont really care the shape, I just want the led lights but I havent been able to find them.

Ebay got different types but they just look to modded for me. There was only one seller from Taiwan that sells the lights with the GRILL!! but they only fit the luxury model . I want them to look as if they came from stock but seriously, in internet there is no place to buy them. I guess I will have to ask my dealer and obviously the price will be very high.

So, does anyone have a webpage, or place to search the lights. I repeat, must look as the genuine ones. Either the L-shaped with grill or the straight ones (with the chromed thing).

it dont fit on the bumper 0f(AMG) u need to change it but the models of 2009 with circle lights on the bumber 100% u can ,,,,

 

yeh a little expensive. NOW...if it was the AMG straight LED's, then i would do it! =D

i would love to have the led hockey sticks done w/oem parts or at least something are close to that quality but don't know where to start and how to install them . not really care too much about the straight ones, though.
