I don't think that situation will last long, if at all. This time next year, there will be '12's sitting on the lot just like there are an abundance of '11's now. And the discounting, which has become standard practice here, will continue.
The Best of Mercedes & AMG
come Sept, the ports will be full of unsold 2012's
I would never go back to that dealer again
Asking over MSRP for any car is ridiculous, no matter what model it is.
I was really close to ordering a 2012 E550W4M for my wife, but we had a new 2011 in the showroom calling my name. I didn't want to wait til November to get a car.
Now that i found out Airmatic is not available, i'm glad i grabbed a 2011.
It might be the best thing about buying a V8 E-Class, having the air suspension.
I have been driving this 2011 E550 for a week & letting my wife drive my car...i almost don't want my E55 AMG anymore.
The only hiccup was not knocking off the so-called advertising fees at first. A little hesitancy on my part and two trips of the salesman between me and the new car sales manager finally got that charge removed - another 1% of MSRP.
As others have said here, there will probably be an ample supply of '12's soon enough.

The stealership is trying to make their problem everyones problem.

What are they now saying re promised July delivery/car on boat etc?
Salesman says he'll keep me informed. We shall see about that too.
My gut tells me September, but it's better at digestion than prognosticating new car deliveries.

I guess we're both impatiently waiting.

get it in August, or like you said........September.....
and yeah, I was told last year I'd be able to track the one I had built then.....but I never got too......

despite being told otherwise by, yes, the dealer.....LOL
I could call the salesman and inquire, but you must understand that my middle name is "Ostrich." (head in sand). To me, nearly all news is bad news; rarely some news is not-as-bad news, and that's about as good as it gets.

So, it'll be here when it's here I guess. Sigh.
Seriously, as July drags on, I'll be calling the salesman. I've already bugged him twice with additional questions arising from membership to this forum. He says he loves hearing from me. I wonder.

Yes, I'm not all that optimistic about being kept in the loop either. As fantastic as this dealer's service department has been to me for 11 years, I get the feeling the sales side is not quite as conscientious at following up with the customer.
I try to take a long term view of all this stuff. In other words, a year from now I'll be driving the new car and this will all just be an anxiety-ridden moment in time.
So much for philosophy.

seems like you have certainly earned some respect AND to be kept in the loop after 11 years of patronage......why do the dealers not get it? lol......we like to be included on those kinds of things.....it's part of the fun for me you know? tracking it, waiting for it, daydreaming about it.....checking the site every other day to make sure it's still the same car.....well, okay, maybe that's just me LOL....
I played the waiting game last year, but it was much worse because I had no MB yet, at least I have one now to tide me over, LOL.......

enjoy
I have since passed on the 550 cab and switched to ordering a '12XKR cab
