You know the W212 is a generally trouble free product when....

There's a ridiculous proportion of "RIMS" related threads to anything else. People come on Message Boards to complain about issues usually, and while many car Forums I frequent are filled with disaster story after disaster story....

.... We have a select few, in between Wheels Threads galore, and maybe a redundant "grille swap" Thread here and there. In comparison, the BMW 5er guys have distinct discussions about many problems AND virtues of their cars, but no wheels Threads.

Kinda dull in that case, I guess you can say, in comparison to riveting stories about troubleshooting problem after problem or discussing nuances, but in real life, it's a good thing.

On a side note, can we get a direct "ONE STOP WHEEL SHOP" Thread on the W212 Forum? Sometimes I feel as if I'm on a Tirerack Forum instead of an E-Class Forum.

Lol. Well with 5 sets of wheels to choose from, I can understand the volume now.

Only MBs - the best or nothing
I have (and always had) two sets per car. Some people I know have 3/car. BTW, much more popular and that's why so much discussed "upgrade" than anything else (including wraping different parts of car with something). Nothing will set a car apart (visually) more and will (almost instantly) improve real world handling/performance feel. The variety of different available wheels seems to be endless. There must be a reason for it, don't you think? After all the manufacturers aren't stupid.

Personally, do not go to forums to socialize. Instead, am here to get info partaining to my interest and share my knowledge if need be. I do not really see a point discussing car's attributes after it was bought as I perform DD to great length before I buy.

MBs are quite reliable now. Their main problems in the last 10 years were mostly (2002-2006 cars) with transmissions due to faulty radiators (supplier was changed - problem fixed) and SBC brakes (which were also "fixed" by discontinuing fitting them starting with 2007 MY). I had two BMWs in the mid/late 1990s. They were great cars for their first two years, after...well lets not go there. I'm a loyal customer of MB brand. Except for Audi, would never even look at anything else.

I think it also goes with the type of buyer of an M-B VS a BMW, etc. Easy "Market Research" for these guys. BMW Forums of equivalent models have little to no wheels threads, owners don't seem to care to modify from the higher up OEM Options. M-B Forums seem to be very in depth on discussing wheels (more-so than the actual car here almost), while BMW guys wax poetic on their cars, even when bone a$$ stock, all day long.

Interesting observation, it is.

2012 E350
Couldn't agree more! I'm new here, but I traded in a 2005 7 series for a new E350. I "lived" on the Bimmerfest 7 series forum for years. It was extremely helpful, but looking back it's sad that the forums were so necessary. There are many common problems with those cars and plenty of people shared the pain. Happy to be here and read about wheels! I'll post some pictures of my floormats when I get a chance. That should spice things up.

I haven't read thru BMW Forums this is why it was not until you posted this thread I was not aware of lack of wheels threads there lol
MB Owners must be liking wheels considering I also swapped mine with Designo Wheels
May be next , steering wheel threads could be popular haha

haha. Yeah. Mostly brake and wood trim problems for w212. The brakes are managable but a pain cause of dust. I think they fixed it in 2012.

VERY well said K-A. You couldn't be more correct about this. SOOOO glad I didn't go with a 7 or 5 series.

I don't usually spend a lot of time in auto forums, however, I have been checking in lately because I am in the market for a new car.

My unscientific observation: Today the main page of MBWord E-Class had 4 threads on tire/wheels, Bimmerfest F-10 had 4, and Audiworld A6 had 3.

Glad you guys see it as I do.

BenzE350, you gotta dig deeper than that. Check out the page 2's and 3's.
