loud popping or binding noise in rear roof area

2012 E 350 Luxury Sedan (9000 miles) makes a very loud popping noise in the rear roof area when the body is flexed such as making a right turn into a drive way. It sounds like something in the rear roof area is binding and then snaps making a loud noise. Only does it when when there is a good amound of elevation change like a steep driveway. It is not a rattle. Anybody have any experience with this?

Do you have a pano roof? I was pulling into a hotel parking lot over the weekend and it was at a bad angle, mine popped pretty loud too.

2010 E350 Sport, P2, Pano, AMG wheel package, dynamic/multicontour seat, black/beige

I have a 2010 with the panoramic roof and I get the same noise only when conditions put the structure of the roof under stress. I assumed it was related to the pano roof. It only occurs when I'm turning up an approximately 20% grade when the body is flexing in a certain part of my daily drive. When mine does it, it's a pretty loud pop, almost startling if the car is quiet. I don't hear it every time....as a matter of fact, it's more likely NOT to do it, than do it. Nevertheless, I agree it seems like something binds and then finally releases in a prominent pop. Others have complained as well and I've heard of mechanisms being lubricated and other things being done to correct it but I don't see my issue as big enough to complain about.
