New E at Detroit

Ok, so I haven't posted in a while. Since I got rid of our E and picked up an X5 diesel, haven't had many E thoughts. Except that our X5 is our new favorite.

Was at the auto show last week before the public opening and snapped a couple pics with my phone. Thought you may be interested. Not sure about that hood gap on the white one. My opinion: don't like the new sport front end. Lux looks ok.

Good to see you troymir , I didn't know you sold your car .Hope to see you around more despite lack of E . Well, I honestly never get a picture of putting an apple sized emblem on the grill and get rid of hood emblem on a sedan car at all lol .
I do have Elegance aka Luxury grill on my car as well. With this upcoming models , installing an Elegance grill would never be as easy and cost effective as we did in our W212s

TBH I will love the E63 no matter what it looks like. But I think I will have to wait on the next gen E63, W213 I assume.
I am just not in love with the new look.

As soon as I clicked on the wagon picture, I thought it was a luxury C class, front end looks just like a C from the side. The sport(white e63) from the side still looks the same as current, but I hate the fact that there is no lighting in the bottom of the front end. Thanks for sharing the pics.

Just got back from auto show. New E-class just dosent look aggressive anymore. Has alot to do with the headlights and front end not being pointy anymore like ours. Im happy with the look of my current W212 compared to this one.

AND.... I was never a fan of the pontoon, but i really do think it looks better with, than without it. The way the sun hits it and gives the back of the vehicle some sexy curves. Whereas this one is just straight like a bar of soap bimmer.

Im very surprised at my reaction because usually when i see a new car or facelift in person i always get excited. In this case...the photos or car didnt do me justice, which is very rare.

Looks like a C class now on steroids. But the C class has better lines.

I still love my 2011 E class and i still think they should have kept the hockey stick DRL!!! loll Mercedes did it right the first time and should have never changed it so extensively.

IMO, MB is trying to hard to compete with new Lexus GS, Audi A6, BMW 5 series, Cadillac, Hyundai Genesis - all at the same time. Design/styling is getting too confusing and less special.

Hurray.

Two things happened today. First, I went by my dealership because they had a Designo Graphite SL on the lot and I finally saw the color in person outside. It was twilight so I just got a sense of it and I like it. Second is I saw that pic of the 14 wagon and really don't like the snout from that angle. So it has re affirmed my decision that I like the 13 better. Should be built by the end of this month. Really excited to get our car.

A friend of mine took these for me at NAIAS. He harassed me about showing my age and said I would look stately in it.

The Ponton rear wheel looks quite good on the wagon, but never really convinced me on the sedan. And it may look a little like the C as you state, but it is not a C and that's the point. In the mid 80s the 190 and E W124 looked similar as well, so it's back to tradition.

I've just been to the Toronto Auto Show. Great show overall.

The MB display was one of the best, but hopeless lack of facelifted E-Class. They has the 2014 E63, but you couldn't get close. Other Es were 2013s. Very poor considering Detroit had the 2014s a month ago.

MB Canada tries to pull the wool over our eyes, when most other countries actively promote updated models. Don't get it.

Anyway - E63 looked great.

True for attitudes towards Canada in general, even though we pay much, much more for the same models here. The market is just to small for car companies to justify making new product announcements.

On the other hand, we got the B-series which the Americans never got, so Mercedes is offering something to us in that respect. The more European cars the better.
