2013 E550 4matic
I am considering a CPO E550 4matic and was wondering about real world gas mileage on the 550. Before you jump all over me about "why i care about gas if I can afford the car..." I drive an older 2000 E320 and a 2012 C63. I am concerned about gas because I would like to average down as this will replace the 2000 e320. The C63 is a bit of a pig but would not trade it for anything. I am also considering a 2014 e350 for that reason. My driving habits are 80/20 city / highway. I would like to get your views on what your experience has been with the 550 4.6bi-turbo.
Secondly, I know it's early but any issues with this motor?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Thanks, this is helpful. What is your estimate of of city / highway? These numbers are about the same as I get from my 2000 e320

1. Let the car warm up
2. Right before you put the car in gear for your test drive, reset the both trip computers.
3. Take your test drive in a city environment and drive normally. Be sure the test drive is at least 10 miles.
4. At the end of test drive check the avg MPG and subtract 2 MPG (After 15 full ups I have found that each time I compare the computers math to the simple odometer difference / gallons filled it is always different by 1.8 - 2.2 MPG).
The turbo engines econ is not that great in the city, and can really vary depending on your landscape and driving style. My highway trips (I set the distronic plus to 79MPH) are usually between 24-26 real MPG (computer says 26 to 28). If you are a conservative highway driver it will probably be closer to 26-28 real MPG. If you don't use control and lots of engine braking you will probably do better than that.
Also, I am all about good economy no matter the price of the car. You are buying refinement, not crude engineering.
