Small amber light on rear seat overhead lights

Hi guys,

Need your help. How do you turn off the small amber light on the rear overhead lights? I have an 2010 e350. Even if i turn off the ambient lights it's still on. It turns on when i turn on the headlights and goes off when i switch headlamps off.

Thanks.

I believe that is the ambient light. If you want it to turn off you have to turn the ambient lighting down to 0 in the "Lighting" menu in the instrument cluster.

Thanks, Tjdehya. I've done that, turned the ambient light setting to "0" but that light is still on when the headlamps are on.

I don't believe that they are intended to be turned off.

Do you by any chance have Parktronic? The front and rear indicators come on when your speed drops below 5 mph. You can turn it off with a switch in the center console.

You are correct. They come on with all the all the other night lights, I always thought they were with the ambient lights.

So I guess you only have two options.
1. Duct Tape
2. Hammer and a nail

With the car in a really dark place, see if that light is illuminating a control of some type. These pinpoint lights usually point to a switch or other control.

Cover up the source of the light and see what get's dark. Then you will know what the light is for.
