55 tech grill is junk
This is the grill I ordered with distronin option
http://www.55tech.com/collections/w2...e-glossy-black
When you get the distronin option, they send you a long piece of foam to it around the bottom half of the grill. Now the bottom half of grill has a double sides tape already applied. Therefore, you have to peel the paper from the double sided tape and stick the foam on there. I guess this is to prevent rubbing?
2 main problems.
1 - the long piece of foam once applied to the double sides tape can be seen from the OUTSIDE when looking at the grill after its been installed. I thight maybe I put the foam on the wrong place because it looks terrible. But since the grill already had the double sides tape, all I did was put the foam on the tape. There's no way to mess this part up. But what I can't understand is how the foam is visible from the outside of the grill
2- my hood now doesn't shut all the way properly. It closes but there is more of a gap when the hood is closed.
3 - the grill isn't flush to the car. I triple checked to make sure all of the tabs were inserted all the way, and I can't push the grill back any further.
Has anyone ordered the same grill and ran into similar issues?
Does anyone have any other vendors I can buy a similar looking grill from?
Lastly, anyone have any close ups of this same grill installed so I can see if the foam shows?
It's dark now so I can't take any pics to post. However I can post them tomorrow if anyone cares to see. Thanks everyone!

I ordered the THIN version of it. ( No distronic ). And when I got it I noticed a gap between the star and the border. I contacted them and they said they notice the gap in that model and that they are contacting the vendor. That was over 2 weeks ago and I still don't have a response.

So I have an update.
I ended up taking the grill and my car to a body shop and they basically had to shave things and removed the goofy looking foam to get it to fit properly. Of course they said the grill was crap in terms of craftsmanship and could not understand how they were designed to fit my car properly at all.
I wished that we had better higher quality options. Unfortunately there really aren't many options for the black gloss finish, with MB star that supports distronic. You know the saying that you get what you pay for. It's too bad we don't even have the option to shop for more premium items

So here is what it used to look like. Notice the foam clearly visible on the bottom half of the grill. Also my hood wouldn't even close shut properly after it was installed!

You have the Star grill for your Sedan stock from Mercedes? Do you have a part number?

The silver ones didn't have this and I am going to get that instead of keeping the black one. Then I will have to paint the background mesh so it matches the bottom. Will post pics when done.
