Spent some time with the 2014 E class...
Spent some time at Ray Catena in NJ looking at several new 2014 E Classes.
I agree with K-A that the redesign looks like an afterthought. Talking Sport models only..
I don't mind the front end, looks a bit CLS-like. The rear looks absurd as its overdone with the additional chrome, the side vents on the bumper, looks to be overkill - Very fat looking lower valence. Makes sense on an AMG car, not on a V6 base model etc. IMO...
What I really noticed was the interior changes,
1. 2014 sport interiors are different from a color perspective. On 2010-2013 sports, they have black carpet, headliner and dash regardless of interior color choice (MBTEX)
On the 2014 they have done away with that and the carpets match the seats.. Clearly a problem for folks who like light colored interiors but not carpets. I always go with the ash interior....so I like the dark carpeting and mats.. can always order black mats...for my 2014.
2. Where the climate control is, 2010-13 its a wood surround, I believe they eliminated that wood and its black plastic. De-contenting?? save $$?
I could get used to the rear, not sure I can do the same on the interior as I always order ASH interior ...
Just my thoughts. Don't have to agree.

thanx for the share, I like the ash too, have it in my 63.......it doesn't get as dirty as one would think either.....
I have only seen one E class up close and personal, and it wasn't one that was loaded.....
still have to make up my mind when I see it some more........
I am anxiously awaiting the arrival of the new w222.......

I have not noticed that part was missing either , it looks cool and adds more elegance to the interior as well
There are two slim aluminum trims for either driver and passenger side that replaces wood trim , that also looks cool

The grey/black interior is still available, probably by special order, code 158 for ARTICO and code 258 for leather.

Isn't that the Porcelain/Black Leather option? You can see this doing an E class build at www.mbusa.com.

MBUSA generally favors the "tone on tone" colors as part of the normal options list, but the "tone on black" equivalents are generally available as well via special order. In Canada, only the tone-on-black colors are offered (exception being beige).

Thank you for the picture, YYZ-E55. Options that are $0 cost but require special order incurs a $250 special order charge. The porcelain/black leather is available as an option (free for E550) that does not require special order (at least in US).

I'm almost convinced that they probably limited the wood to an option now due to all the problems encountered w/ discoloration and fading in the past models...(2010 - 2013)... Probably contracted the right people to manufacture/install the wood right this time, but @ a cost, thus, why it's offered as an option w/ the 2014s (consumer now absorbs the cost)... Thoughts?

I think rear view isn't so bad, but front view of sport is certainly step backward. I would prefer maker keeps sport and luxury packages look consistent with difference mostly in wheels. Regarding interior change I didn't find any problem. I think floor mats can be covered by some clear mats. I've seen it in my friend Acura and it isn't so bad.

To each his own, but I absolutely love the facelift of the sport model. The last generation 350 did grow on me but if i would've bought based on looks last year, i wouldve taken a strong look at Audi and BMW. This year was no contest. Never went anywhere else but MB dealer. I wanted a sporty look with class/luxury on the inside and out. I dont need 600000 hp. the 350 has plenty of get up and go. and around the streets of Washington DC the cops are all over the place so that makes it easier to stick to the V6.

Totally agree too, as I think the E350 Sport looks great!

i have yo join the "love the sports look" band wagon... it looks amazing. Some people prefer to have "factory sport" looks even on regular e350 and no this is not the same as taking a honda and then fitting it with a spoiler from ferrari.

2014 E350 Wagon
Only full size wagon on the market. My decision was made for me. Either an e-wagon or an SUV (ugh!). I personally love the styling of the new 2014 sport, looks sharp and aggressive. Maybe it works for me because I'm still relatively young...

It has nothing to do with age. IMO the 2014 Sport accentuates the other areas of the W212 which are deemed "geriatric styled" and makes it look like an older guy dressed up on Ed Hardy or something. The pre-facelift looked so confidently "one-character". The 2014 E isn't a sporty looking car just because they grafted on a front that has no correlation to the rest of the upright/boxy/angular design, it just looks confused to me (like a kit-car of the pre-facelift). To me, it's about design harmony, which shows you how good the designers are, and to me the facelift W212 is a huge mess in that area.
