Mercedes Offering New Star Bling
Let's be honest, for many car buyers the hood ornament or badge on the front of the car is their way of making a statement, especially with luxury brands. Well, Mercedes-Benz is taking its iconic three point star and putting a new shine on it, by offering a Benz badge that lights up.
Make no mistake, this will be the coolest feature some buyers will gladly show off by driving their new Benz to in front of neighbor's homes after dusk. Mercedes introduced the option with a video highlighting the many incarnations of the Mercedes star over the years.
Mercedes is offering the illuminated star on select models including the new E-Class, the M-Class, GL-Class and CLS-Class sedans. In some cases, depending on the model year, Mercedes dealers can retrofit the LED lighting feature. Mercedes described the new illuminated star as, "Bright, but sophisticated. And it's your opportunity to announce to the world: 'This is my Mercedes-Benz!'"

You forgot to post the part at the end that says:
"With this feature, Mercedes has further solidified its position as the car of choice for the "Jersey Shore" crowd. CEO Zetsche continuous, beamingly: "We feel our brands perceived sophistication and refined taste palate was narrowing our customer base too heavily, with this feature, we have swiftly eliminated that problem".
LMAO at some of the comments on that article. Though as usual many are way over the line, I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who thinks "ghetto" or "tacky" when I see it.

light up hood ornaments have been around since the forties and still are. look in any j c whitney catalog. BTW this is a grille ornament not a hood ornament. look for this to become the new gang-banger badge, complete with battery pack stuffed into their baggy trousers.
Now some punk can steal it and light up their back pack..
Next thing you know....they'll be spinning!
It will be a Beacon in the night to help thieves locate things to steal.
I AM GOING TO MAKE MY T LIGHT UP ON MY TOYOTA!!
people pay a lot of extra money for that tiny little plastic circle, so why not add 35 cents in led's to really make it worth while[/I]

Seeing as I rarely approach my car from the front at night, the illuminated star wouldn't do anything for me. I rather have the illuminated door sill, not that I need that either.
