Have you ever traded in a car with issues?
Have a E350 with a major issue and starting to feel bad about trading it in without telling them, all my friends say don't worry everybody does it, as long as your not selling privately. What would you do/or have done?
Thanks in advance.
Thanks in advance.

I would not worry about it one more second. Trade it in and get yourself into a better vehicle.
non disclosures go on all the time, and ultimately you may be a victim of a dealership non disclosure. Your car may be inspected after you trade it in, then it'll go to auction and it's not your or the dealer's problem.
Or the car will pass inspection, and it may be covered under a CPO warranty extension.
Curious as well what the issue is

I am not eve sure what to think of a thread like this. lol Must be something pretty damn awful to be losing sleep over trading in a car. Before a car is traded in, the dealer checks it out. Is the OP worried about the decomposing DNA in the trunk?

These days the stealerships usually have you sign a form that says if they end up finding any major issues like frame damage, water damage etc you will take\buy the car back.
If a car with major issues is sold to some naive buyer then there is usually no recourse but remember "karma is a *****, and it WILL get you back"

It is good you feel bad about that. You are a good person. I have same problem, I feel really bad if I hide something. I can't negotiate price well since I feel bad that dealer won't have enough profit. For example I turned a car to dealer with oil change over due 55 days and I feel really bad about that. I am a good guy too. I do lot of bad thing, and always feel bad about that.

If the car has an issue then the OP needs to suck it up and tell the dealer that the car has issues. In most cases, the dealer won't care because they think they can fix it and you'll sleep better at night.
I just traded a car with severe body damage. I showed it to the dealer before it was repaired and again after the repair. They offered about $1k less than the other guys who knew that I had been rearended but didn't know how badly.
I sleep well at night knowing that I made full disclosure. I know that the dealer most likely will auction off the car before the damage is reported by CARFAX (if ever) but I can't control that.

If you are selling this vehicle as a vehicle in "Excellent Condition" when you know that it has "Major Issues" the you are a ***** bag and I hope you rot in hell.
But if you are trading it then you don't have to disclose anything because when you trade in a vehicle it is an "as-is" deal unless they say otherwise.
But if they see something and ask about it and you lie, then...

Yes, I have but always been outspoken with .I also say it's OK to get it checked out anywhere you like if you like to have a piece of mind .
Watch Wheeler Dealers program , they always buy the cars with problems before selling them they get them sorted out almost like new and you can't tell that was that car before vs after

Boy,I am so sorry I ask this question..... Here's the story.... I was selling the car....and then a buyer had it check out and his garage found a potential issue, without going into detail I decided to just trade it in. I will say the car has never been in an accident, flood or anything like that,But as there garage said " If this IS the issue it should NEVER happen to a car with only 39000 miles" I do not know for sure the problem but will not sell it privately, instead take about $5,000 less from a dealer.

Because you are so reluctant to disclose the "potential problem", I'd opine that you were aware of the problem and were hoping that the buyer didn't find it.
Anything that starts with "here's the story" is always followed by deception.

I am glad that OP didn't sell the car to the private party with lowered price.
