e350 Wagon Rear Seat Fold Down Latch Broken

Can anyone help? The rear seat latch to fold it down broke and I cannot feel a cable inside. The dealer wants $850 to repair it. Can I order a part somewhere and repair this myself? Does anyone know how to or have a service manual that includes this?

Thanks.

Thanks, I don't have the car with me (wife has it at work), but there's not much to photo. It's just the latch on the rear (second row, driver's side) seat is missing, broken off, and there's just a gap where it should be.

I need a new part (the latch) and help on how to reassemble it.

One of these parts is what you'd need.

And here is the install instruction for the locking mechanism: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/...20backrest.pdf

There's also one in the rear cargo area. Does that one work for you?

Yes, it makes a latching noise but does not fold down. These plastic latches seem really weak.

Hello GregTR, You posted a very helpful message about the W211 rear seat release latch replacement. You referenced the following attachments, which are no longer at dropbox.com. Can you please repost these?
Many thanks,
AgentGG

Hi guys,

Could someone post a link to the part? The pull down handle on our E350 wagon just disintegrated!

Thanks!

If available, I just need the part you pull to release the latch. It's plastic & has a small metal part that fits over it. This photo looks like the under working parts behind it that actually controls the latch and catch mechanism.

Thanks so much! I'll let y'all know how it goes. I ordered both sides, in case the other one breaks as well.

So I ordered that part & it's wrong. Looks to be the part for a sedan, we have a wagon. The place I ordered it from is checking to see if they can get the correct part. For anyone else with this problem on a sedan, I have the passenger rear release I'd be happy to sell. The driver's side was not available.

Interesting, part # was pulled from MB EPC for 212.287 (wagon) using VIN provided w/picture provided to compare part in question. Anyway, here are part #s for "release" handle, see if picture (other than color) resembles the part you're looking for. Again handle alone is not available only assembly.
