Vossen CVT or CV3 20" Wheel and Tire Setup

Hey Guys.

Need your expert advise. I have an 2011 Mercedes E350 ( W212 ) that is all stock with 18" AMG wheel. I am in the process of upgrading it to either Vossen CVT or CV3s.

I have been told this setup is the best weather it is lower with springs or just stock with the recommended wheel and tire setup as listed below:

20x9 front, 20x10.5 rear. The tire sizes is 265/35/20 for the front and 285/30/20. I was told this would have the best look and won't have any rubbing issues.

Does anyone have this setup and if possible, please post photos of your car here and kindly advise if this setup is the best for the 2011 W212s.

Please note that I do not have the wheels sticking out, rubbing or scraping the speed bumps.

Thanks in advance. David

Offsets mean EVERYTHING when it comes to wheel fitment and tire setups. You'll get more accurate responses by providing the offsets you have.

Hey Guys,

Obviously, I don't know too much about wheels and tires. I have looked at several wheels including HRE and Vossen. I have concluded I want the Vossen CVT or CV3. I have been told 20x8.5 front, 20x10.5 rear and also 20x9 front and 20x10.5 rear.

Tires sizes vary as well: 265/35/20 Front and 285/30/20 Rear or 245/30/20 front and 285/30/20.

Offset vary as well.

What I want to accomplish is a more aggressive stance and better handling performance as what most if not all you guys want to accomplish with wheel and tire upgrades.

I wouldn't rule out lowering my car if just the wheel and tire upgrades doesn't proof the handling is stiffer or handles better without body rolls.

Any help with wheel and tire setup to better accomplish what I have mentioned and photos of your car with any recommendation or things to watch out for would be most appreciated. Thanks again in advance for your help.

You've got some contradiction here.. If you want to have a more aggressive stance, your going to have to sacrifice the performance and better handling aspect. Also, 20" is really pushing it to achieve an aggressive stance. I'd recommend looking into 19" so that you can play around more with the offsets and tire sizes.

Do you want the wheel to be flush with the fender or have it poke out just a bit with stretched tires? Most people on here are against poke and aggressive stances, but it's certainly doable and I personally like the look when it's done right with the perfect fitment. Some research on here will get you info on the perfect setup for a flush fit. A more aggressive stance and a bit of poke will have you taking a chance on setups that most drivers aren't using.

Thanks for your feedback. I have decided to go with the 20" Vossen and would like it flushed with the fender and not sticking out of the fenders. What would be the recommended wheel, tire and offset that can accomplish the flush with the fender look.

Any photos would be much appreciated. Thanks again for your help.

Also would not recommend over 19" if in North east. Have had 2 bent need to be replaced CVT in 3 mos already. Not cheap, not fun!

Also, please advise what I need to do to make the car sit evenly on the ground and not with the front end lower than the rear. Thanks all.

I went with 20" CV7s with my coupe. As a previous poster mentioned, offset means everything. The coupe has less room to work with compared to the sedan too I believe.

I have 9" on the front with 3mm spacers and 10" in the back. My car is also dropped. Offsets were in the 40s. I tried to find the exact numbers, but seem to have misplaced that info.

Thanks for your input. How about this tire setup:

245/30/20 ( F )
275/30/20 ( R )

If you can provide your input for the above tire size for its advantages or disadvantages on my 2011 E350 sedan.

What would be your recommended wheel and tire setup for my car?

Thanks in advance. David

Check out my thread. I am running 20x9 32et with 245/30/20 front and 20x10.5 42et with 275/30/20 rear lowered 2.25 inches. This will give you an idea.

It was covered here in great details on a number of occasions. If you do a search, you will find all the answers you're looking for. My "input" is all there (probably too much of it). Here I'm just going to say one thing - regardless of who does/says what, W212 was not designed to use an almost 1" taller wheel/tire combination at the rear than the front.

W212
I have 20" rims and going strong in my 6th month with real ****ty roads in Norway. Just drive careful and pay attention to the road.
Could also look at this thread and see my set and dimensions with 20" lowered. https://mbworld.org/forums/e-class-w...5-my-w212.html

But you could do a search. Many people that have covered this before, and comments from threeMBs and Bigigg are to look for. They I have learned from. Good luck.

Plan on making the wheel and tires package purchase this week. The package I think for the best setup is: Voseen CTV with 20x9 32et with 245/30/20 front and 20x10.5 42et with 275/30/20 rear on Hankook Ventus V12 tires.

I'm thinking of dropping my car. I don't want to spend an arm and a leg for them, but I do want suspension that are adjustable from the comfort of inside of my car for better handling and stance.

Any suggestion and input on the suspension would be highly appreciated. Photos would be a definite plus.

You drop your car and go with 20" wheels, your comfort will be affected. now, it's not as bad as I have experienced with other cars. I had Tein coilovers put on my S2000 and they were adjustable, but man the ride was HARSH. That was on 18" wheels too.

I've put H&R springs on both of my E classes, and lost some comfort, but it is still pretty good.

Truth be told, the E class doesn't seem to handle all that well. I don't feel very connected to the road. Could just be me though.

As far as pics, I won't repost here, but I have pics here: 2014 E550C

Guys. Making the purchase this Friday. Decided to go with the Vossen VFS-2 with 20x9 32et with 245/30/20 Front and 20x10.5 42et with 275/30/20 Rear. This is a Cali driven car. Not going to lower the car until a few months later to see how it rides. If I decided I would like a stiffer ride, then will play with the suspension. Stock 2011 E350 with the exception of the above wheel and tires setup. Will this rub or scrap going through small potholes or speed bumps? Want the flush look? Need any spacer and if so what size and reason. Much appreciate all you expert advise. Thanks much.

Vossen VFS-2 With Hankook Ventus V12s

MBworld experts. I am confused. It seems that I am getting yet another setup recommendation by another shop. Originally I was told that Vossen VFS-2 ( Sliver Polished ) with 20x9 32et with 245/30/20 Front and 20x10.5 42et with 275/30/20 Rear on Hankook Ventus V12 tires and lowered with H&R Lowering Sport Springs ( http://www.ebay.com/itm/271487879855 ) with 5 adult passengers would not rub or scrap going through speed bumps and pot holes going at slower speeds.

Now I am now told on the newer e-class, I should run the 20x8.5 +44 and 20x10 +55

The 20x9 +32 and 20x10.5 +42 will most likely rub especially if lowered and fully loaded with adult passengers.

I have the 2011 Mercedes Benz E350 ( W212 ) RWD Sedan. What is your expert advise on this. Which will be the best setup with Vossen VFS-2 lower on H&R Sport lowering springs.

I wanted to placed the order, but can't get any confirm setup until everyone here on MBworld can agree on the setup that is right for my application. Please please help a desperate MB owner. Much appreciated.

Also, does anyone here have the 2 mentioned setup and lowering springs and can tell me from actual experiences with these setups. Any photos would be greatly appricated. Many many thanks.

Many guys I think are guiding you int he right direction. threeMBs seems to have the most first-hand knowledge of both the sedan and coupe. I'd go by what he says for sure. If he told you another setup earlier in this thread would work, I'd go with that. Don't ask him again, I get the feeling he doesn't like answering the same question over and over again, haha!

Do a search on these forums for his user name. I forget the thread, but there is one or two that have a lot of information.

If its for the 11'.. 9" front you wanna be at 35et the lowest, also 245/30 on a 9" is not giving you much protection.. hope your roads are immaculate.
10.5 rear 42et is to low.. you want to be at 45et lowest. I know 3mm doesn't sound like much but will make the difference between rubbing and not.
My advice.. stick with 8.5 front and 10 rear.. tires will be less stretched. This topic been discussed numerous times.. do a search

I am running with those exact specs on wheels and tires lowered 2inches without rubbing issues. So you should be good unless you are deciding to slam your car with 3inches.
