E550 2011: Trunk / Tailgate opening like a slingshot!
Hey guys,
When I unlock the trunk on my car, it opens with a certain amount of strength and then bungees a bit at the top and the whole car slightly bounces with it as well at the top.
Most of the videos I saw on Mercedes cars the tailgate opens smoothly.
I do have the auto closing feature (close and close and lock buttons).
I am concerned that the strength at which the tailgate is opening my be damaging something on the car or the trunk itself.
Is this normal for my car?

For the trunks its a bit different issue causing it then the tailgates. Im assuming you dont have a wagon so its the trunk lid on yours. There are springs that can adjust the pretension, by reducing the slack (counter clockwise iirc) the trunk will not shoot up so abruptly. hth.
