2017 E400 Wagon Black/Black MB Tex P1 & Sport Wheel Package
A/C Vents Reflect On Side Mirrors

Recently bought an '13 E350 wagon and have noticed that the closest vents to the doors reflect the louvers onto the side mirrors. This has never happened with any MB we have owned and it is extremely annoying and distracting.

Talked to Service Manager at dealership and at first he thought it was because the car had been fully tinted by previous buyer and we were going to remove the tint form the front windows. However, he emailed me one night that he was driving an ML home that had no front window tint and he could see the glare.

He said he does not know a fix for this and he thinks all newer models have the glare and that I am first one to really make an issue of it.

Anyone out here know what I am talking about and find it annoying? Find any solution?

Thanks.

Same reflection in my '14 E350 sedan; noticed it driving home after purchase. Not aware of any MB or DIY solution to the glare.

I will inquire at my dealership. That would work. Not sure why this bothers me so much. I have only had this wagon for about a month but I don't seem to be getting used to it. Thanks.

Here's a thread from a couple years ago --- and a comment by the OP re: a fix by the dealer:

https://mbworld.org/forums/e-class-w...e-windows.html

Has anyone noticed their side vents on the left and front of the dashboard reflect in the side windows causing it to be hard to see what is in the exterior rear view mirrors. I just had my vehicle at the dealer and apparently there is a dtb about this and they replaced my vents with ones that have black louvers. This was covered under my warranty too, so i was very happy that they could take care of that for me. My wife said she didn't notice it, but it bothered me sometimes when the sun was just right. Also the vents look just as good on the side even though they aren't silver. The black blends in very nicely with the dashboard. I also looked at other new cars (i.e. 2012 s-class)on the lot, and they all had dashboard colored vents on the sides, with silver vents in the center. Just wondering if i am alone with this issue.

Also:

found part numbers from MB listed as Silver Matte vs. the chrome units installed. Anyone have these or pictures of these?

Thanks a whole helluva lot - now it's the only thing I see.

Before I read this post? Nada. I was blissfully ignorant to the reflection.

Today? It's nothing but reflection.

Time heals all (most, many, some?) wounds. The reflection doesn't bother me much anymore.

I'm too busy pondering a carbon start/stop button! That damned button better not reflect.

hmmm. A carbon (fiber?) start button.... that sounds interesting. Got any pics or a link so I can take a look?

I sometimes wonder if DB has ever heard of FMEA. This crap should never get by.
I never see this in my 2011.

I'm more surprised that people actually complain about this. The dash board also reflects off the windshield. Your face reflects off the side window and the rearview mirror. It's glass. Why are we surprised that things reflect off of it???

Reminds me of when I worked at a BMW dealership and a customer came in complaining that his passenger seat vibrates at 110 mph!
