Mercedes Dealer will not change my headlight bulbs

Hi Guys,

I purchased a vehicle from a private party. I want to change the bulbs to the left and right of the grill as one of them is burnt out and the other is on its way. I believe these are LED bulbs. When I brought it to the dealer today and they said they cannot do it because they are "aftermarket" bulbs. I then called a few other dealers and all of them are denying my request for the same reason.

I went to advanced auto parts (local chain store) and the guy there who is pretty knowledgeable told me that the bulb seems like a Sylvania 2825LED bulb.

My problem is I can't find anyone to install the bulbs for me. I live in Long Island, NY so finding a shop to do this kinda stuff is hard as it is.

ANd to think, the rest of the bulbs in my car are HIDs. Who will I get to install those when they burn out?

Does anyone know who I can turn to do the replacement? Also, does the bumper/bumper cover need to come off to change the bulbs on a 2010 E550? Some people asked me that. Is it that hard?

I appreciate any help as always. Thanks.

are you talking about parking lights? if so and you got a p1 package you should be able to do it yourself .... but as for HID you will have to remove the fender liner to get a better access to the bulbs.

I'm not sure what they are called, but it's the lights to the left and right of my grill. See how the left one is white and the right one is yellow?

those are possibly the easiest bulbs to replace in the entire car. simply pop open the hood, the housing is right next to the headlight. turn it counter-clockwise and you'll see the bulb. that's it. good luck!

It looks like you have after market lights. That's probably why the dealers won't touch it.

The parking lights are very easy to change. Get your self a set of LED's from azn optics, probably less than $20 for the set, and takes less than 5 minutes to change them. (rotate black plastic cap, pull out old bulb, insert new bulb, push back into socket, rotate black plastic cap back on and done).

So funny, I figured this out yesterday on my second effort. Thanks though. I have the 2 LED's pulled out and ordered a set of new ones online. I'll wait for them to arrive. In one of my parking light assemblies, there's like a portruding stick and a cone type shape thing at the end of it (knob shaped?), and on one of my lights (right side assembly) that knob thingy is broken. Any idea what that part is and what it functions as? I can try to take a picture later.

Yes, figured it out yesterday lol. I assumed it would be difficult I guess. Now, when my HIDs and hockeys go out, I'm screwed lol.
