HELP!! Pre Safe Functions Limited and it says car is inoperative

New to this forum but I hope someone can help me. I have a 2014 e350 and as I got onto the highway I got a message saying my car is inoperative and I also noticed I lost power. I literally floored the pedal all the way and the car was barley able to pick up speed. Unfortunately this isn't the first time it has happened, it started last year and I had it fixed in January by the dealer but they didn't really give me a explanation to what happened and just told me it should be fine and now a couple months later it's happening again. Does anybody know why this is happening or has this happened to anyone else?

It happened to me for the first time a month ago but hasn't happened since. Disconnect the battery for a few minutes and it might reset any fault code that happened. When researching this you'll find that there isn't really a definite problem or solution for this.

Any modifications to the car? My first thought would be faulty gas pedal.

I had the exact same thing happen a number of times with my 2014 E350. I took it in for service and they told me that they had to remove the front bumper and reposition whatever unit handles the pre-safe functions. Since doing that, I've had no further problems.

If you Google the pre-safe issue, you'll find that a lot of other Mercedes models have the same issue.

Had it happened on mine a couple of weeks ago as well. Car is just 6 months old and is a 2014 built. Dropped the car in and they told me there was a number of software updates the car requires. Done that and fingers crossed that it wouldn't reoccur. It's so annoying that a brand new car is causing so much issues.

Thank you for the reply and I will be taking the car into the dealership tomorrow so hopefully they can fix this issue from reoccurring.

Yes I have the rear fully converted into a 2014 e63 amg with black series diffuser an exhaust tips, I have no mufflers, an x-pipe, and also I have taken the secondary cats out.

Congrats on the car! I love the car it's just yes it does get very annoying that they can't figure these things out because I guess it's been an issue with older e350s as well.

It happened to my car as well

It was a faulty accelerator pedal unit, which was replaced on my 2013. It hasn't happened since the replacement.

Read about this happening with people who have the Sprint booster.

Additionally if this happens again, the wisest thing to do would be to pull over and call roadside assistance rather than resetting the vehicle by disconnecting the battery and putting yourself in harms way if there is truly a major fault with the engine/electronics

I can bet you almost 100 percent it's a faulty accelerator pedal. Same thing happened to my car a while back.
