I just purchased a 2012 E550 to replace my leased 2014 E350 and what a difference, love the E550 so much more. Before I read this thread I pretty much started ordering almost everything you did Kobzarhomes, clear side markers are next. As far as the AMG badge I am also a CLK63 black series owner and frankly don't care what anyone puts on their car. As far as my E550 I debadged it completely.

Obsidian Black with natural beige/black leather interior. Color combo reminds me of my old hammer. Looking for wheels now, most likely Forgestar F14 in 19" deep concave.

What was your reasoning for debadging the 550? I have a friend who debadged a S430 and he said all his neighbors had one so he wanted to be different. I've read others say they do it to have other cars sleep on it's speed. Just interested in your perspective on it.

Just wanted a sleeper, especially after I chip the car which will put out 540hp and 615 lbs. of torque.
^Lol..Can I ask why replace 2 air filters? Do you mean just changed them for new ones like during a oil change or change up the air filter system altogether. Sorry OP your thread has become so much more HA HA

Aftermarket air filters allow the engine to breathe better over stock ones. Yes they replace the stock ones. K&N or Weistec, although there are others as well, your choice.
Sorry but I fall under the AMG poser police. I thought everything you were doing was great up till here and then you lost me.
I have 'AMG' wheels and the Sport steering wheel. But a car is not an AMG unless you have a handbuilt motor from Affalterbach.
To put the badge on it is pretending you have something you don't. But that your business. Just know that others will now assume you have a fake Rolex, your wife has a fake LV purse and that you tend to pose as something you aren't.
Just my 2 cents.
Well said.

I also installed original AMG badge on the trunk lid. I'm not trying to claim or fool anyone that this is E63 AMG, but since my car has the sports package and the wheels do you say AMG on them I thought this would be a nice touch. I left E550 badge on the car as well.
My 2010 E550 has the amg package 31k miles on it. When I wanted an E63 AMG I bought it. I find it inauthentic to slap an amg badge on an E550. Your amusing

There are many threads like this in other forums as well. The BMW forum for example, kids buying an old BMW and slapping on a M3 badge thinking they look cool. There are many of us here who owns Mercedes with AMG rims and steering wheels, but I am sure most of us do not have a fake AMG badge on the truck lid. In my opinion, the fake AMG badge is crossing the line of tasteful mods. As I see it, there is couple of scenarios that can play out with the fake badge. One is for the average driver to see the fake AMG badge and admire it, but most auto enthusiast could not care less if some kid who do not know an AMG from a non-AMG like their car or not. Then there is the other group who really know their cars, one look and those auto enthusiast will know that it is a fake AMG, all respect will be lost at point no matter how nice the other mods look. I guess in the end, as long as the owner of car like the look of the upgrade badge, that's all that matters.

Regardless slapping on amg badges on a non amg vehicle is _______.
Thank you everyone for your input.
Love the badge and that all that matters. ((by the way as I and other have mentioned multiple time before, I kept E550 badge on the back, not trying to fool anyone that this is E63)).
ANYWAYS.... Sorry everyone I have not updated you guys on the W205 steering wheel swap. Its still on the car and I love it, BUT I never got a change to swap out the steering column and the steering wheel buttons. Been very busy with work and family. When It happens, I will definitely let you know.
